
Softball Battles Penn State in Midweek Game

LEWISBURG, Pa.- The Bucknell Bison softball team (10-25, 2-10 PL) travels Interstate 80 to duel in-state rival Penn State (23-13, 5-9 BIG 10) in a midweek showdown. The Bison are coming off three losses to Boston University in conference play.

The Nittany Lions are 23-13 overall and 5-9 in Big 10 play this year. They are coming off a three-game sweep of Rutgers. Penn State is hitting .271 on the season and has some power belting 28 home runs in 36 games. Kaitlyn Morrison leads the team with 24 RBIs. Lexie Black is among the nation's leaders in doubles with 14. Bailey Parshall has 14 wins as the ace of the staff.

Bucknell is 9-32 all-time against Penn State. Bucknell last defeated Penn State in 2019, winning a 4-2 victory. Bucknell first played PSU in 1986 when Terrie Grieb led the Bison herd.

- The Bison went 0-3 against nationally receiving votes Boston University. Bucknell battled but could not bunch the hits together or keep the Terriers off the scoreboard.
- Zoie Smith collected four hits in nine at-bats to raise her season batting average to .362. It is one of the top marks in the Patriot League.
- Savannah Jones posted three RBIs during the weekend to raise her season total to 17. She and Smith are tied for the team lead.
