
Women's Basketball Faces the Black Knights in Saturday Joust

LEWISBURG, Pa.- Two hot teams will collide in a Patriot League showdown on a chilly Saturday afternoon in the Highlands of New York. The Bucknell Bison women's basketball team (8-13, 4-6 PL) is coming off two decisive wins as it travels to West Point to duel the Army Black Knights (8-13, 6-4 PL). The Black Knights of the Hudson are riding a four-game winning streak of their own. Potential hosting in the Patriot League Tournament is up for grabs.Â

• Bucknell won its second-straight game as the Bison defeated Loyola, 73-37. Bucknell dominated from the opening tip. The Orange & Blue stampeded out of the locker room, scoring 26 points in the first quarter, which was a season-high for the Bison. Bucknell continued to score points at will and finished the game topping 70+ for the first time this season. The Bison are now 8-13 and 4-6 in the Patriot League this season following the victory.Â
• The Bison relied largely on youth through their first thirteen games. The majority of recent starters have been a mixture of combinations and classes due to injuries. But the starting combo of Dingler, Johnson, King, Shaffer, and Theodorsson has come forward as the standard lineup to win four of their seven games.
• Against Army, on Jan. 18, 2023, Emma Shaffer earned her fourth career double-double by scoring 15 points and obtaining 15 rebounds.Â
• Emma Shaffer equaled 300 career rebounds against Boston U. on Jan. 2, 2023, and Isabella King collected her 100th career rebound against Lehigh on Jan. 5, 2023
• Bucknell finished 24-10 overall and 12-6 in Patriot League play last season. The Bison reached the 2022 Patriot League Championship game playing as the No. 4 seed in the tournament, but they fell 65-54 to the No. 2 seed American.
• Bucknell received an at-large bid to the 2022 WNIT and defeated Fordham in the first round before falling to Drexel in the second. Bucknell is the only Patriot League team with two all-time WNIT victories under its belt.
