Women's Basketball Rounds Out 2026-27 Coaching Staff with Erin Jones

LEWISBURG, Pa. - Head coach Trevor Woodruff and Bucknell women's basketball announced the hiring of Erin Jones as the program's newest director of basketball Operations and assistant coach on Tuesday.Â
Jones, a former six-year collegiate player and four-year professional basketball player, joins the Bison coaching staff with experience in several different coaching styles and basketball systems from playing both in the United States and internationally.Â
"We are excited to welcome Erin to our Bison family," said Woodruff. "Her ambition and positive energy stuck out during our hiring process. We have been very fortunate to have excellent young coaches in this position and she will add to that list."
Most recently, Jones served as a sports performance coach for Gym Jax in Jacksonville, Florida. She trained athletes in strength, speed, agility, conditioning and injury prevention. She also created individualized performance programs based on athletic goals and taught proper movement mechanics and safe training techniques.
Prior to coming to Lewisburg, Jones also served as an AAU Basketball Coach for Duval Elite in Jacksonville for three years. As a coach, she led teams ages 12-17 from March through July each year. Jones planned practices focused on skill development, basketball IQ, teamwork and competitive execution and created individualized coaching strategies to maximize athlete growth and confidence.Â
Over those three years, Jones worked as a self-employed basketball skill development trainer. She trained athletes ages 10-18 in individual and small-group basketball skill development sessions. Jones designed customized training plans focused on shooting, ball handling, decision-making and position-specific skills. She also evaluated player progress to provide ongoing feedback to athletes and families.
Prior to becoming an AAU coach and self-employed basketball skill development trainer, Jones served as a sports performance coach at B3 Better Sports Performance in Jacksonville, Florida where she designed and implemented individualized strength and conditioning programs for youth athletes. While at B3 Better, Jones helped improve athlete's speed, agility, strength, endurance and overall athletic performance by coaching them in both group and individual settings.
After finishing six years of playing NCAA Division I women's basketball, Jones spent four years playing professional basketball at international clubs across Portugal, Germany, Scotland and the United Kingdom. During her time playing professionally, she adapted to diverse coaching styles, cultures and team systems while demonstrating leadership and professionalism through consistent preparation, practice habits and strength and conditioning. She also mentored younger players by assisting with practices and skill development in multiple European women's basketball leagues.Â
Jones graduated from the University of Rhode Island with a bachelor's degree in kinesiology in 2020 and then earned a master's degree in exercise science and chronic disease in 2022 from the University of North Florida.
