Bucknell Baseball Travels to Penn for Midweek Contest

LEWISBURG, Pa. – The Bucknell University baseball team is set to travel to Penn on Wednesday in a tune-up for its upcoming Patriot League Championship series on May 24-26 at Army.

Bucknell travels to play the Quakers for the first time since 1960, and the seventh time in program history. The Bison took a 12-8 win against the Quakers in that 1960 season. Penn holds a 4-2 edge in the all-time series.
The Bison will prepare for the upcoming Patriot League Championship series with its first game against Ivy League competition since playing Cornell in a four-game series at Depew Field in 2017. The Big Red took three of four from the Bison in that series.
Bucknell, which has only played three games since May 1, will look to head into the Championship Series with momentum, having won its last two outings against Lehigh in the semifinals over the weekend.
The Bison also added postseason competition against the Ivy League in its 2014 Patriot League Championship-winning season. Bucknell hosted Ivy League Champion Columbia that season for three games before traveling to the NCAA Regionals in Charlottesville that season. Wednesday's opponents Penn will take on the Lions in their league championship series over the weekend.
Bucknell is 9-13 in road contests this year, but won its last midweek game on the road at Penn State on April 26, 8-7. The Bison also traveled to Philadelphia earlier this season to take on Villanova, falling 10-4 to the Wildcats.
The Bison finished 12-7 at home this season (0.631) for its highest win percentage since 2014, in which the squad finished 16-5 at Depew (0.762).
After Wednesday's contest, the Bison will travel to Army on Tuesday, May 24 for a best-of-three series against Army in the Patriot League Championship Series.
