LEWISBURG, Pa. – Senior Hadley Maxwell, junior Ty Lagoni and sophomores Everett Garber and John Calabrese were named College Sports Communicators Academic All-District student athletes after the 2026 season.
This marks the second straight season Maxwell has been named the CSC Academic All-District team, who was also named the 2026 Patriot League Scholar Athlete of the Year and an Academic All-Patriot League selection.
Calabrese, Garber and Lagoni are first-time CSC Academic All-District honorees. Garber and Maxwell were also named to the Patriot League All-Tournament team and Maxwell was a First Team All-Patriot League selection.
Maxwell wrapped up his career in Orange and Blue with a remarkable senior season. He posted a 2.76 ERA as Bucknell's closer, tying Phil Futrick's single-season record of 11 saves. The Nashville, Tenn. native also tied the single-season record with 22 appearances. Earlier this season, he was one of 61 relief pitchers named to the NCBWA Midseason Stopper of the Year Watch List. His 11 saves currently rank 14th in the nation including post-season action.
Lagoni put together an impressive first season as Bucknell's every day shortstop after transferring from Patrick & Henry Community College. The junior hit .230/.320/.378 with 45 hits and 35 RBIs. He hit four sacrifice flies and led the Bison with nine stolen bases on 10 attempts. The Pittsburgh, Pa. native hit five home runs, including a huge two-run homer to give the Bison a 3-2 lead in the Patriot League Championship to force Game 3. Lagoni was named a Patriot League Player of the Week twice this season.
Garber was one of Bucknell's most reliable pitchers in 2026 and spent most of the season as the No. 1 starter in the rotation. He posted a 4.67 ERA over 52.0 innings. He made nine starts but ended the year in bullpen after missing several weeks of action. The New York, N.Y. native finished the season with a 4-3 record on the mound including a win in 3.1 strong innings out of the bullpen in Game 2 of the Patriot League Championship. Garber also tossed 2.1 no-hit innings in Bucknell's 6-4 win over Navy to clinch a berth to the Patriot League Championship.
Calabrese continued a strong season after breaking out as a freshman in 2025. The sophomore hit .271/.378/.373 with 12 doubles. The Staten Island, N.Y. native racked up 32 hits, 18 RBI and 17 runs scored and posted a .955 fielding percentage in right field.
Bucknell finished the season with a Patriot League regular season title and its first winning record (27-24) since 2015. The 27 wins are the program's most since 2014. After missing the Patriot League playoffs in 2025 and entering the season as the fifth-ranked team in the preseason polls, the Bison earned the No. 2 seed and hosted both the Patriot League semifinal and championship series.
Bucknell opened the season with a 1-7 record before turning things around entering conference play. Bucknell started 11-1 in the Patriot League and finished with a 17-9 record for its most wins in the league in program history — the Patriot League expanded to 25 games in 2018 and 26 games in 2026.
The Bison fell to Holy Cross in the Patriot League Championships to Holy Cross, who have won two consecutive titles.
