Bucknell's Davis Breaks PL Record with Sixth Rookie of Week Award

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Bucknell's Connor Davis broke the Patriot League record by capturing his sixth GEICO Rookie of the Week award, the league office announced Monday afternoon.
Davis was recognized for recording six points on five goals and a helper during the Bison men's lacrosse team's 19-16 victory over Lafayette. During the contest, he became the sixth Bison to net at least 40 goals in a single campaign, joining Justin Zackey (63 in 1993, 44 in 1994), Jon Romm (45 in 1990), Jim Ball (44 in 1979), Sean O'Brien (42 in 2018) and John Golaszewski (41 in 1998).
Davis currently boasts 43 goals on the season, a total good for fifth in school history. His average of 3.58 goals per game is good for third among NCAA Division I players; not only is he the freshman leader, he is one of just two in the nation's top 15 in this statistical category.
Davis's previous Patriot League Rookie of the Week nods came on Feb. 7, Feb. 14, Feb. 21, Mar. 7 and Mar. 14. In February, he became the first player to earn this honor three weeks in a row; he then captured back-to-back awards in March, an accomplishment only previously achieved by 13 other Patriot League student-athletes.
Davis and the Bison wrap up the regular season on Friday with a 7 p.m. game at Navy. Bucknell has clinched its spot in the upcoming Patriot League Tournament and can finish as either the fifth or sixth seed.
