About Bucknell
• Bucknell resumes Patriot League play with a three-game series at Colgate this weekend. The Bison will play a doubleheader on Friday before playing a single game against the Raiders on Sunday. It's Bucknell's fourth league series of the season, and all three contests will be shown on ESPN+.
• The Bison are 1-8 in Patriot League play, picking up their only victory over Holy Cross. Four of Bucknell's eight league losses were by a single run.
• Most recently, Bucknell dropped a pair of games to Northeast Conference leader Saint Francis on Tuesday. Bucknell made a late push in game one before falling 6-3 and was held off the board in a 9-0 loss in game two. Several Bison put up solid numbers at the plate against the Red Flash despite the losses.
• Zoie Smith had a particularly strong day on Tuesday, going 4-for-7 with an RBI. Smith has posted two hits in each of the last four games and ranks third on the roster in the category with 20 hits this season.
• Nicole Rivait was 3-for-7 against the Red Flash and leads the Bison in hits (38), batting average (.349) and doubles (8). She ranks top seven in the Patriot League in all three categories as well.
• Chase Knapp and Annabella Hawkins were the other two Bison with multiple hits on Tuesday. Hawkins has six hits over the last six games, and Knapp posted her second triple of the season against Saint Francis.
• Bucknell threw all five pitchers again on Tuesday and has rotated through the group throughout the season. Hunter Vestal and Kelly Toomey saw the most work against the Red Flash as each threw four innings.
• Toomey has a team-best 4.03 ERA in 24 appearances and 14 starts. She's 4-11 overall this spring, and Madison Roukey has Bucknell's other win in the circle. The Bison possess a 4.76 team ERA.
Scouting Colgate
• Colgate, which was picked fourth in the Patriot League preseason poll, is currently sitting in that spot with a 4-2 league record and a 14-16 overall mark. The Raiders most recently went 2-1 at Lafayette and went 2-1 against Holy Cross earlier in the year as well.
• Colgate ranks second in the Patriot League in ERA (3.39) and is fifth in team batting average (.239).
• Rookie Jillian Herbst leads the Raiders in hits (40), and her .392 batting average is fourth in the Patriot League. Fellow freshman Bailey Misken was named Patriot League Rookie of the Week on Tuesday after posting a 0.49 ERA in 14.1 innings pitched with 13 strikeouts in the Lafayette series.
• Senior pitcher Kaitlyn Burruso leads the Raiders with a 2.94 ERA and is 7-2 in the circle this season.
Series History with Colgate
• Bucknell leads 64-56-1 in the all-time series with the Raiders, which dates back to 1988. The Bison had won 15 in a row prior to last season when they went 1-2-1 against Colgate. One of those losses was a forfeit in the final game.
• In the 2021 four-game series, Colgate won 2-0 before the Bison grabbed a 6-2 victory in the second game. The third ended in a 0-0 tie. Vestal and Knapp each posted multiple hits in the series. Kaiya Burton picked up the one win in the circle, throwing all seven innings and allowing just one earned run.
