About the Bison
• Bucknell visits the reigning Patriot League champion Boston University this weekend for its second league series of the 2022 season. The Bison will look to improve on their league record after going 1-2 against Holy Cross last weekend.
• Bucknell is one of four teams with a win in PL play, and the Terriers lead the way after going 3-0 against Lafayette over the weekend. Army is 0-1 in the league with a loss to Lehigh, and Colgate has yet to play a conference game.
• Bucknell's first two games against Holy Cross were defensive battles, as the team fell 2-1 in game one and 1-0 in game two on Saturday. The Bison bounced back and scored eight runs over the first two innings against the Crusaders on Saturday to collect an 8-0 shutout.
• Outfielder Elena Horn was named Patriot League Rookie of the Week on Tuesday after going 4-for-9 at the plate over the weekend with a double and an RBI. Horn ranks third on the Bison roster in batting average (.259) and hits (15) this season and is one of two Bison with multiple stolen bases. Sophomore Zoie Smith also posted four hits last weekend and walked three times. She's second on the team with a .282 average at the plate.
• Senior Nicole Rivait is hitting a team-best .329 with a triple, a home run and seven RBIs. She also ranks second in the Patriot League with seven doubles, and she had one of Bucknell's three doubles in the Tuesday loss at Penn State in which the team out-hit the Nittany Lions and maintained a 0-0 tie going into the fourth inning.
• Senior pitcher Kelly Toomey has started 12 of Bucknell's 27 games and has three of its four wins. She sports a 4.14 ERA and ranks fifth in the Patriot League with 50 strikeouts. Earning Bucknell's win on Sunday was rookie Madison Roukey. The Hudson, Ohio native threw her second complete game of the season and allowed five hits with three strikeouts and no walks.
