Sarah Zimmerman Awarded Second Team All-Patriot League

LEWISBURG, Pa.- Pitcher/Outfielder Sarah Zimmerman went from receiving only four at-bats in 2025 to becoming one of Bucknell's most potent hitters in the 2026 season. The dual-threat player landed her first Patriot League honor by receiving a spot on the Second Team in the At-Large category, dedicated to those rare specialists adapt at both hitting and pitching, as announced Tuesday afternoon by the conference office.Â
Zimmerman appeared and started in 41 of Bucknell's 45 games, hitting a robust .302 with 32 hits, eight doubles, a team-high two triples and two home runs, and 15 RBIs. A speedy and alert runner, she led off and went a perfect 5-for-5 on the base paths.Â
The junior entered the 2026 season with only 54 at-bats to her name. First year head coach Angie Stackhouse '04 granted Zimmerman a starting role and the upperclassman repaid the faith with the breakout season. She earned Patriot League Player of the Week on Feb. 23 after her sensational weekend at the UNCG Invitational where her bat obliterated opponent pitching to the tune of a .667 batting average, a 1.444 slugging percentage, and four extra base hits, including her first career doubles and home run. She drove in six RBIs after entering that weekend with a career total of four.Â
"Sarah Zimmerman earning All-Patriot League honors is a reflection of everything she brings to our program every single day," said Stackhouse. "She's an incredible teammate and a natural leader who sets the standard with her work ethic and consistency. What makes her special is her versatility-she can impact the game in so many ways-and her sheer athleticism allows her to make plays that change momentum. This recognition is well-deserved and speaks to the type of player and person she is."
She also served as Bucknell's #2 pitcher, collecting two wins in the circle and 35 strikeouts in 66.2 innings. Zimmerman started 18 games for the Bison, second only to freshman ace Avery Powers.Â
A Bucknell player has now earned Second Team All-Patriot League honors for four straight seasons. Â
Bucknell Softball will return in 2027.
