Softball's 2026 Season Concludes in Defeat at Colgate

HAMILTON, N.Y.- Bucknell Softball (9-35-1, 6-12 Patriot League) completed the 2026 season on Sunday, falling 10-2 to Colgate (27-24, 13-5 Patriot League) in five innings. The Bison cut the deficit to 3-2 before the Raiders' potent bats exploded for seven unanswered runs.Â
Senior pitcher Mea Consentino received the start and the leadoff batter Nora Megenity slugged her 21st home run of the season over the right center field wall. Analisa Raffaelli and Marina Taveras reached on a hit by pitch and single. Kayla Martin drove them in with a two-run double.Â
Bucknell struck back with a single run in the second inning. A trio of singles tallied the score. Brooke Popella led off with a single followed by two swinging strikeouts. Senior catcher Angelina Seropian provided the second single. Tori Kirkpatrick, receiving the start at third, used a nice piece of hitting to single home Popella.Â
The Bison cut the deficit to 3-2 in the third inning. Sarah Zimmerman and Barbara Jo Coppola singled and Popella reached on a fielder's choice when the Colgate shortstop committed while trying to nab Zimmerman at third. Meadow Gambacurta lifted a sacrifice fly to center field to score Zimmerman.
Colgate essentially ended the game in its fourth frame with six runs. Two singles and a double scored the first run. A walk loaded the bases and Lily Haluska cleared the bases for three more runs. The blow removed Consentino from the circle, who exited with a series of hugs from her teammates. Nina Barrouk entered the game and gave up a two-run blast to Martin.Â
The Raiders ended the game in the fifth inning. Megenity singled, advanced to second on a wild pitch, and scored on Taveras' game-winning hit.Â
The Bison started all four healthy seniors, Consentino, Marissa Rapino, Seropian, and Haley Speicher in recognition of their impactful class.Â
Bucknell Softball will return for the 2027 season.Â
