- Bucknell returns to action after attempting to play two games at the weekend against visiting Niagara on its home turf.
- Despite a spirited comeback in game one that sent the game to extra innings, the Bison ultimately fell, 8-5 to the Purple Eagles.
- Game two was called off due to darkness in the top of the fifth inning, and statistics were not counted officially.
- Friday's series vs. Navy will be the first of ten straight home games for the Orange and Blue to end the month of March. Bucknell hosts Saint Joseph's, Army, Holy Cross, and the Mount for the return fixture to close out the month of March before traveling for its first road game since Wednesday's game in Emmitsburg at Lafayette on April 2.
- Bucknell earned over half of its wins at home in 2021, and posted a winning record at Depew in 2019 at 9-8.
- Bucknell faces Pitt for the second straight year, falling 17-9 to the then-14th-ranked Panthers last season. The Bison offense posted 12 hits that day, including a three-hit day by Chris Cannizzaro with two RBIs and three runs scored. Jacob Corson also added two hits for the Bison with a run scored in the defeat.
- Bucknell is 20-29 in the all-time series against the Panthers, with the two teams first meeting in the 1908 season, where the Bison took two games over the Panthers, 4-3 and 5-4.
- The Bison opened the 2021 season at Mount St. Mary's in the last meeting between the two teams, with The Mount taking a dramatic win in extra innings. Henry Novicki hit his second career home run in the tenth inning to give Bucknell a 2-0 lead, but The Mount scored three in the bottom of the frame to take a 3-2 win.
- Late heroics were also on display for the Bison on Friday despite the defeat to Niagara.
- Trailing by three in the bottom of the seventh in the scheduled seven-inning game, Bucknell rallied back for three runs in the frame to send the game to extras.
- Anthony Sherwin hit a double for the fifth straight game to start the rally, before eventually being brought home on a sac fly by Grant Voytovich to tie the game, his team-leading eighth RBI of the season. Sherwin also added a double in Bucknell's shortened game two of the series that did not count officially.
- Tyler Dunn then singled home Jacob Corson and Brendan Lowery with two outs and two strikes in a clutch piece of hitting to tie the game at five. Dunn upped his average to .290 over the weekend, and is tied with Sherwin for second on the team with seven RBIs.
- Dunn was one of three Bison along with Corson and Kyle Lyons to garner multiple hits against the Purple Eagles in that game.
- Lyons tied the game earlier with a big two-RBI single out of the nine spot, and also beat out the throw on a bunt for his second hit of the day. The two-hit day is the fifth time in his career he has posted two or more hits in a contest.
- Bucknell went 3-2 against the Mids last season, with both Sherwin and Cannizzaro hitting over .400 against the Mids in those games. Sherwin posted seven hits, five RBIs, and four doubles against Navy last season, while Cannizzaro scored five runs, posted nine hits, and added five RBIs in five meetings in 2021. Corson also had solid outings in five matchups against Navy in 2021, adding seven RBIs for the most on the team throughout that stretch.
