Bucknell Baseball Wins Series Finale over Radford, 10-2

RADFORD, Va. – The Bucknell University baseball team defeated Radford, 10-2, to take two of three from the Highlanders over the weekend. The Bison used an eight-run fourth to turn around an early 1-0 deficit in taking the win.
Bucknell, much like Friday's 15-2 win, put together a big inning in breaking open a 1-0 early deficit.
Bucknell, with three hits entering the fourth, exploded for six alone in the fourth, including its first six batters reaching base safely. Grant Voytovich started the inning with a single, before Kendall Pierson was hit by a pitch and a walk by Henry Novicki loaded the bases.
That set up senior Logan Kellerman's three-RBI, bases-clearing double to give Bucknell a 3-1 lead. Chris Cannizzaro, Ben Sinins, Voytovich, Pierson, and Anthony Sherwin also recorded RBIs in Bucknell's big inning, with Voytovich recording two singles in the frame as the Bison batted around in opening a commanding 8-1 lead.
That was plenty of support for starting pitcher Austin Odell, who made his second start of the season. After an effective outing against Power-5 Iowa, Odell provided another strong start in earning the win, going seven innings while allowing five hits and striking out two. The seven innings for Odell is a career-best, and he was replaced by first-year Nick Mulvey in the eighth inning. Mulvey pitched a clean eighth inning in his collegiate debut, while Andrew Funovits also pitched a clean ninth.
The Bison added two more insurance runs in the eighth and ninth innings in cruising to the win. Kelly scored on a wild pitch in the eighth, while Anthony Sherwin scored Tyler Dunn on a fielder's choice in the ninth to give Bucknell ample breathing room.
Voytovich followed up his big Friday with his second three-hit game of the series in the win, while Sherwin also collected three hits. The Bison accumulated a season-best 14 hits in the victory, with eight Bison registering hits. Kellerman's three RBIs tied his career best, while the two hits for Kelly are also a career high.
The Bison face a stern challenge in their next matchup, traveling to Duke for a three-game series set to begin on Friday at 4 p.m. The series is set to take place at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park.
