- Bucknell found its offensive groove against the Highlanders, compiling 26 runs in three games in Virginia.
- The Bison used big innings in games one and three to break open close games. In game one, trailing 2-1 in the eighth, the Bison rattled off six runs in the eighth and seven in the ninth to take a commanding 15-2 win.
- In game three, the Bison used another big inning to once again overturn a deficit. Bucknell, trailing 1-0 in the fourth, managed eight runs in the frame, with the Bison batting around in the inning. Sophomore Grant Voytovich, who had a stellar weekend at the plate, managed two hits in the inning as Bucknell went on to win 10-2, scoring double-digit runs twice over the weekend.
- The last time Bucknell scored ten runs multiple times in a three-game series was against Navy on March 27, 2021. Bucknell defeated the Mids 11-1 before dropping a 15-10 decision in the series finale.
- The Bison have scored 29 of their 35 runs this season in three innings, with 12 in the fourth, nine in the eighth, and eight in the ninth.
- Voytovich, batting in the cleanup spot primarily, had a fantastic weekend, notching six hits, five runs scored, and four RBIs. The sophomore hit .429 overall and slugged .500, upping his average to .308 this season. The native of Mars, Pa. has already surpassed his 2021 season totals in hits, RBI, and runs scored, starting every game for the Bison this season after splitting time mainly at second base as a first-year.
- Brendan Lowery continued his excellent start to his senior campaign, compiling two multi-hit games to bring his season total to seven this year. The native of Randolph, N.J. has already tied his career best tally of hits in a single season, and his four RBIs are also tied for the most he has compiled in a single season. Lowery hit his first career home run in the season opener, and knocked his first career triple against Radford, with both of his hits in the second game of the series going for extra bases.
- Bucknell posted 14 hits in game three's 10-2 win over the Highlanders, the most by the squad since a 10-3 win over Navy on April 18, 2021. Bucknell managed 14 hits on three occasions last season, including back-to-back games against Lehigh (3/13) and Army (3/20).
- Bucknell had six players accumulate three hits or more over the weekend in Voytovich, Lowery, Mason Kelly, Anthony Sherwin, Logan Kellerman, and Tyler Dunn.
- Kellerman tied his career best with three RBIs in the series finale over Radford, clearing the bases with a double in Bucknell's big fourth inning. Kellerman's four RBIs are already just two shy of his 2021 output in 23 games in just five total appearances so far this season.
- Tyler Dunn hit his first career home run in the win over Radford on Friday, marking the second Bison this season to hit their first career home run this season along with Lowery. Chris Cannizzaro has also hit one home run this season.
- Kendall Pierson posted a big hit after entering the game as a pinch hitter in Bucknell's defeat to Radford in game two, when his RBI single plated Lowery after his triple earlier in the inning. The senior picked up two hits in seven at-bats with a run scored and two RBIs over the weekend.
- Nick Mulvey made his collegiate debut over the weekend, throwing a scoreless eighth inning in Bucknell's win in game three. Sophomore Ben Sinins also made his first career start for Bucknell, lining up as the DH in game two.
- Will Greer continued his excellent start to the year with another solid pitching performance, going eight innings while allowing three hits, one earned run, and walking just one batter. The junior from Cohasset, Mass. also struck out four batters, and has allowed just one earned run in 15 innings this season. Greer's ERA of 0.60 is the second-lowest ERA in the country of any pitcher who has pitched at least 15 innings, just behind Villanova's Cole Pattern (0.57).
- Austin Odell earned the first win of his career over the weekend, pitching seven innings and allowing two earned runs while scattering five hits. The seven-inning outing was the longest of Odell's career.
- Ben Magovern made his first career start last Friday, managing a solid performance in five innings pitched. The native of Reading, Pa. struck out five and allowed just one earned run against the Highlanders. Graeme Carroll pitched the final 2.1 innings in Bucknell's win on Friday, allowing just two hits to help Bucknell earn its first win of the season, and the second of his career.
- Bucknell ranks nationally in both team ERA (34th, 2.67) and WHIP (48th, 1.19).
- Bucknell last played Duke in Durham in 2018, falling in all three games to the Blue Devils. The Bison came closest to a victory in game two, falling 6-4 as Duke plated two runs in the eighth to break a 4-4 tie.
- The Bison also met Duke for three games in 2013, head coach Scott Heather's first season in charge of the program. Bucknell dropped all three games in that one, but kept things close in the final two falling 2-0 and 4-1, respectively.
- Bucknell will head home after the Duke series to take on Marist on March 9, and is scheduled to play 14 home games at Depew Field over the month.
