Bucknell Baseball Drops Second Game to Radford, 2-1, in Extra Innings

RADFORD, Va. – The Bucknell University baseball team fell to Radford by a score of 2-1 in 11 innings on Saturday. Radford found the game-winning run in the eleventh on a bunt that scored Michael Williams from third.
After an offensive outburst for the Bison in game one, scoring 15 runs, game two was decided by the finest of margins, as both teams combined for ten hits in the first nine innings.
Bucknell took the lead in the seventh inning when pinch hitter Kendall Pierson entered the game, making an instant impact by singling to third base to score Brendan Lowery, who tripled earlier in the inning. Lowery continued his fantastic start to the year with another two hits on Saturday, bringing his season total to seven already this year.
Will Greer pitched a great game for the second consecutive outing, not allowing a hit through the first three innings as he kept Radford off the board. Greer ran into a bit of trouble in the fourth, with the Highlanders loading the bases with one out in the inning. However, the junior managed to get a foul out and a strikeout to escape the jam unscathed.
Radford managed to tie the game on a sac fly in the bottom of the seventh, but Greer kept the Highlanders at bay with a line out to end the inning and keep the game tied.
Greer's final line for the day was an impressive one, pitching eight innings while allowing three hits, one earned run, and striking out four batters.
First-year Tyler O'Neill entered the game in the ninth inning, retiring six straight Radford batters over the next two innings after allowing a leadoff double to start the ninth.
However, the Highlanders found the winning run in the bottom of the 11th on a sacrifice bunt after two straight singles to open the inning.
Lowery and Chris Cannizzaro accounted for four of Bucknell's six hits, while Pierson and Logan Kellerman each added a hit. The two teams accounted for just one walk each between them.
The Bison will finish out its three-game series against Radford on Sunday at 1 p.m.
