
Volleyball Suffers Setback on the Road at Lehigh

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Bucknell volleyball dropped its second match of the weekend on Sunday, falling 3-0 to Lehigh in Grace Hall. Junior Lisa Zoch posted a .294 hitting percentage with six kills and eight digs, but the Mountain Hawks finished strong in each set and collected their fourth win on the season.
The match saw 14 total service aces, including six from Bucknell (5-8, 1-3 PL). The Bison struggled to a .065 hitting percentage, while Lehigh (4-10, 1-3 PL) hit .231. Lehigh also posted seven total blocks to Bucknell's two.
After keeping things stayed close early in set one, a 4-0 Lehigh run set the Bison back 18-12. The Mountain Hawks hit .296 in the first, and Bucknell was unable to string together more than a pair of points at a time. Lehigh also posted four block assists in the first before taking a 1-0 lead in the match with a 25-18 set score.
The Bison looked far better in set two and led much of the way, maintaining a .360 hitting percentage in the frame. Bucknell opened the set scoring seven of the first 10 points and went on several 3-0 runs, however, Lehigh scored five unanswered to pull within one at 15-14. Lehigh ended the second by scoring nine of the final 10 points.
Lehigh led throughout the third set after scoring five unanswered early on and jumping out to an 8-2 lead. The home team added three more service aces and three more blocks in the final frame and secured a 25-15 win while earning their second sweep of the season.
Bucknell sophomore Catherine Jamison joined Zoch with six kills, and Allie Lopez added four with a .273 hitting percentage. Setter Sarah Ramirez totaled 21 assists with two service aces, and rookie libero Jordan Hardy led the squad with 16 digs.
Bucknell returns home next weekend to host Navy and American. The Bison play the Midshipmen in Davis Gym on Friday, Oct. 1 before facing the Eagles on Saturday, Oct. 2.
