Bucknell (5-9, 5-5 PL) took a 9-5 lead in the top of the sixth thanks to a two-run home run by Chris Cannizzaro, but couldn't hang on as the Mids scored ten unanswered runs en route to the win.
The Bison got on the board first in the first inning, when Peter Marren singled home Cannizzaro to take a 1-0 lead.
Navy responded with a run on a Luke Keller RBI double and an RBI groundout by Zach Stevens to take a 2-1 lead, before adding another run on a sac fly in the second.
The Bison reclaimed the lead in the third after a wild pitch and two walks loaded the bases with nobody out. Kyle Lyons brought home Kendall Pierson on a fielder's choice, before Anthony Sherwin hit his second three-run home run in as many games to plate Lyons and Caleb Broughton.
The first-year from Harrison City, Pennsylvania hit his first career home run yesterday in Bucknell's 11-1 win over the Mids, and he also added a two-run double in that game. Sherwin becomes the first Bison to hit a home run in two consecutive games since Cannizzaro accomplished the feat in February of last season against Virginia. The home run to right field gave Bucknell a 5-3 lead.
Navy tied the game at five in the bottom of the fourth, before back-to-back two-run innings in the fifth and the sixth gave Bucknell a four-run advantage, 9-5.
The Bison showed their power once again, as Henry Novicki and Cannizzaro each hit two-run home runs. Bucknell has now had four different players hit a home run this season after Pierson launched his first career homer against Pittsburgh on Wednesday. The home run for Novicki was the third of the season for the sophomore, while Cannizzaro's was his second of the year and the fourth of his career.
The third home run for Novicki is tied for second in the Patriot League this season, behind Dylan Minghini of Lafayette (4).
However, the Bison were undone in the eighth inning as the Mids batted around and rattled off ten straight runs to claim a 15-10 win. The Mids capitalized on three walks and two hit by pitches in the inning by the Bison.
Cannizzaro, who entered Wednesday's game against Pittsburgh with a .262 batting average, raised his average all the way up to .382 through the four-game stretch. The native of Staten Island enjoyed a phenomenal five days in the Orange and Blue, hitting .647 with 11 hits, six doubles, eight runs scored, and six RBIs. Four of those hits came on Sunday in the defeat to Navy.
In the series against Navy, Sherwin hit .375 with two home runs and eight RBIs as the first-year enjoyed his best offensive weekend to date in the Orange and Blue.
Bucknell managed 12 hits on the day, with Cannizzaro, Peter Marren, and Novicki each picking up multiple hits for the Bison with two RBIs each.
Bucknell returns to action on April 3-4 for a four-game road series at Holy Cross.
