FINAL RESULTS
URBANA, Md. -- Sophomore Jack Gardner shot a 1-over-par 73 and grabbed a share of the lead after 36 holes, but he missed out on his first career individual title on the second payoff hole on Sunday as the Bucknell men's golf team finished up play at the Carpetbagger Classic at Worthington Manor CC.
Bucknell shot 302 as a team and finished in second place behind Fairleigh Dickinson. The Bison had a two-shot lead entering the final round, but FDU closed with a 295 to win the team title by five strokes. Robert Morris finished third, four behind runner-up Bucknell. Towson finished with a 294 to move up four places into fourth, while Bryant rounded out the top five.
Gardner followed up his even-par 72 in the opening round with the 73 on Sunday. He made four birdies on the day, including three on the back nine en route to a 3-under 33 on the inward nine. After a triple bogey at the par-3 eighth hole left him 5-over on the day, Gardner birdied No. 9 and played the final 10 holes in 4-under, including a birdie at the last to force a playoff.
Fairleigh Dickinson's Jaime Julve, who shot 70 on Sunday, pulled out the win on the second playoff hole.
Also for Bucknell on Sunday, Jackson Bussell shot 75, Chris Tanabe shot 76, Blake Wisdom carded a 78, and Jason Lohwater shot 83.
Bucknell's three individual players all posted rounds in the 70s, led by Max Orwicz with a 76 followed by Dylan Ford with a 78 and Josh Holtschlag with a 79.
