HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. – The Bucknell women's lacrosse team was topped by high-powered Hofstra, 18-5, on Saturday at James M. Shuart Stadium.
The Pride (1-1, 0-0 CAA), which a week earlier fell by a single goal to No. 16 USC, had five players enjoy multi-goal outings en route to its victory over the Bison (2-1, 0-0 PL).
For Bucknell, Kali Peeples netted a hat trick while Caitlin Tucker made a career-best 11 saves after entering the game at the first half's 16:22 mark.
Julia Bradbury and Tegan Warren accounted for the Bison's other goals while Eve Calabria added a pair of assists. Abby Neff paced Bucknell in ground balls (3) while three Bison posted two draw controls.
Notably, Calabria's two assists gave her 42 in her career, good for 10th in school history; the junior now needs eight assists to become the seventh Bison with at least 50.
For Hofstra, Taylor Mennella and Grace Langella each netted four goals. Mennella was one of three Pride players to cause two turnovers; Sabrina Cristodero, a transfer from Florida, logged seven draw controls.
Hofstra held sizable advantages in shots (43-15), shots on goal (33-12), draw controls (17-8) and ground balls (21-11); the teams were fairly even in turnovers, with the Pride turning the ball over 10 times to Bucknell's 16.
