Naomi Radio Hired as Women's Lacrosse Assistant Coach

LEWISBURG, Pa. — Head coach Jackie Dando and Bucknell women's lacrosse announced the hiring of Naomi Radio as the program's new assistant coach Friday. Radio joins the Bison as an official assistant coach in 2026 after spending the past year as a goalie consultant for the team. She brings more than 20 years of experience as a dedicated lacrosse coach and educator to the Bison staff.
While serving as a goalie consultant for the Bison over the last year, Radio developed and delivered on-site and virtual goalkeeper training that covered technical, tactical and mental performance and skill development.
During her time at Bucknell, Radio also served as the director of programming for the Tenacity Project, which runs girls' lacrosse camps and programs designed to build confidence, resilience and leadership. Radio designed curriculum and implemented proven methods from mental performance foundations, leadership training models and athlete development systems from multiple sports and varied levels of lacrosse. She additionally directed camps, clinics and tournaments and coached athletes on advocacy and the college recruiting process.
Prior to those stops, Radio spent three years as an assistant women's lacrosse coach at Penn State. As an assistant coach, she helped with all aspects of the women's lacrosse program, including recruiting, coaching, developing, motivating and evaluating academically and athletically qualified student-athletes in compliance with NCAA, Big Ten and Penn State University policies and procedures. Radio focused on defensive player development, practice planning, game preparation and unit strategy while also being responsible for recruiting, evaluating, developing and mentoring the goalies, including the 2024 Big Ten Freshman of the Year. She spearheaded team mental performance training, directed team leadership development efforts and fostered a positive team culture built on collaboration and whole-person development while with the Nittany Lions. Prior to becoming a full-time assistant coach at Penn State, she served as a volunteer assistant goalkeeper coach for the 2022-23 season.
Before heading to Pennsylvania, Radio served as the head women's lacrosse coach at Juniata College from 2016 through 2022. She served as the program's inaugural coach, steering the team from club status in 2017 to 11 wins in 2022 and being named the Landmark Conference Coach of the Year. As the head coach, Radio mentored, led and empowered young women to help them become the best versions of themselves both on and off the field. She executed player development, game planning, scouting and recruiting responsibilities for an NCAA Division III team while demonstrating an understanding of and compliance with NCAA, conference and institutional rules and regulations. Each of her teams was academically strong and named IWLCA Academic Honor Squads. Radio filled many other roles over her time at Juniata College, including interim director of Student Accessibility Services (2022-23), instructor and guest facilitator (2019-23) and SAAC adviser (2018-22).
Radio's collegiate coaching career began with a four-year stint at Shippensburg University, where she spent one year as an assistant coach before being named the head women's lacrosse coach for the next three years. In 2006, the Shippensburg coaching staff was named the PSAC Coaching Staff of the Year. Radio executed player development, game planning, scouting and recruiting responsibilities for an NCAA Division II team while demonstrating an understanding of and compliance with NCAA, conference and institutional rules and regulations. Radio was responsible for all team travel and logistics, fundraising, budget planning and monitoring the eligibility and academic progress of student-athletes. While at Shippensburg, she chaired and served on athletic department committees and advised student-athlete groups on campus, including SAAC and Tau Kappa (women's athletics sorority).
Radio has also coached at several club and youth lacrosse programs throughout her career. She coached for Check Hers Lacrosse Club as a team coach and goalkeeping coach; the Borough of Chambersburg Recreation Department as the youth lacrosse programming coordinator; Chambersburg Area Senior High School as the inaugural head girls' lacrosse coach; Xtreme Lacrosse Club as a goalie coach; State College Warriors Lacrosse as a coach and development coach; Happy Valley Lacrosse Club as a coach and consultant; and Nittany Valley Sports Centre as the youth lacrosse programming coordinator.
Radio played collegiate lacrosse at Mount Saint Mary's, where she was a two-year captain and three-time All-Conference selection, with first-team selections in 2004 and 2005. She also earned Academic All-America At-Large First Team honors in 2004 and 2005. Radio was a two-time Northeast Conference Student-Athlete of the Year and the 2004 Player of the Year. Radio also played Division I soccer at Mount Saint Mary's and earned Academic All-America District II First Team honors in 2003. In 2013, she was one of 40 female athletes recognized for their lasting impact on the university as a Mount Women in Sports Celebration 40 for 40 honoree. In 2016, Radio was inducted into the Mount Saint Mary's University Athletics Hall of Fame.
Radio graduated from Mount Saint Mary's in 2004 with a bachelor's degree in political science and again in 2006 with a master's degree in teaching. Almost 20 years later, she earned the Certificate in Learning Differences and Neurodiversity with a specialization in postsecondary disability services from Landmark College.
