Men's Golf Drops Down Leaderboard on Day 2 of Martin Downs Collegiate

PALM CITY, Fla. -- After a red-hot start on Friday at the Martin Downs Collegiate, the Bucknell men's golf team struggled in round two on Saturday with a team score of 318. The Bison opened with a 6-under-par 282, but after mustering 18 birdies a day earlier, they managed six plus an eagle on Saturday and fell five spots into 12th place.
Chris Tanabe was the low Bison in round two with a 1-over 73. Tanabe was 1-under on the front nine and logged three birdies in his round. Freshman Blake Wisdom tied the school record with a 6-under round of 66 on Friday, and he followed it up with a 77. Still in red numbers for the tournament at 1-under, Wisdom is now in a tie for 22nd place.
Also for Bucknell on Saturday, Peter Bradbeer shot 82, Jason Lohwater shot 86, and Dylan Ford had an 87.
Tournament host UNC Greensboro and James Madison, two highly ranked teams nationally, have run away from the field. UNCG is 35-under and JMU 30-under through 36 holes. Third-place Samford is well back at -14.
Jonathan Brightwell of UNCG followed up his opening-round 62 with a 69, and at 13-under he has a one-shot lead over teammate Zack Swanson, who shot 64 on Saturday. Another Spartan, Nick Lyerly, is in third place at -9.
The third and final round gets underway on Sunday morning. Bucknell will play with Appalachian State, Fort Wayne and Lehigh, starting off the back nine at 8:30 a.m.
