Bucknell at a Glance
• The Bison are 1-0 (0-0 PL) after doubling up Sacred Heart, 18-9, on Feb. 8. Eve Calabria led the attack with seven points (4g-3a) while Abby Neff was a force defensively, logging seven ground balls and five caused turnovers.
• In 2019, Bucknell went 4-13 (2-7 PL). The Bison, who placed ninth in the Patriot League a year ago, were picked to finish in the same spot in the 2020 preseason poll.
• Bucknell's captains are Jessie Britton, Sarah Dohler, Sophia Klaber and Kali Peeples. Dohler is in her second season as captain.
• While the Bison only graduated three seniors following the 2019 campaign, all three were impact players. Goalie Jamisen DeWitt and defender Callie DeWitt were All-Patriot League honorees while Audrey Walsh finished in Bucknell's top five in goals each of her final three seasons.
• J. DeWitt was a rare four-year starter in net; she graduated as the school record holder in career ground balls (166) and slotted sixth in career saves (586).
• The Bison returned their top five leading point producers from a year ago in Calabria (14g-20a), Tegan Warren (19g-11a), Morgan Steinhacker (24g-1a), Lillie Hunt (6g-16a) and Julia Bradbury (17g-3a).Â
• On the defensive side of the ball, Bucknell returned Britton, who started all 33 games between 2018 and 2019; she was also named the Academic All-Patriot League Team following each of those seasons.
• The Bison welcomed 13 newcomers ahead of the 2020 campaign; the newcomers hail from seven different states: New Jersey (5), New York (3), Illinois, Maryland, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Virginia.
• Bucknell qualified for back-to-back Patriot League Tournaments for the second time in program history in 2016 and 2017.
• Jackie Dando is in her first season as head coach. She spent the previous seven years at Lebanon Valley College, posting an 82-49 overall record and a 41-14 conference ledger. Lebanon Valley qualified for the MAC Commonwealth Conference in each of her seven seasons as head coach, culminating with the program's first league championship and NCAA Division III tournament berth in 2019.
