"Although 4th is not what we were looking for, I was proud of how hard we fought for every point," said Head Coach Kevin Donner. "The Patriot League has improved a lot and now you pretty much need to be an ECAC qualifier just to score points. Navy has a lot of firepower and deserved to win. Army had a very good meet, and Boston has developed into a very balanced team now, and solidified 3rd at the end of the meet with a nice 5k and 4 x 400 relay. We fought a lot of adversity with injuries this season and were never at full strength. We have a lot of women qualified for post season meets and are excited to see how far they can go."
Forrestal just beat out freshman O'Brien after she also cleared 5-5 in the event. Lehigh's Jordan Otto and Bucknell sophomore Alexandra Butz also cleared 5-5, with the Bison claiming three of the top four and four of the top seven. Sydney Contrino (5-3) also scored for the Bison with a seventh-place finish. The jump was a personal-best for Forrestal by a half-inch, and is tied for the sixth-best mark in Bucknell history.
Kaitlin Salisbury continued her strong form from day one, finishing in second in the 100 (11.93) to Army's Calli McMullen. The finish is the highest of Salisbury's career, after she finished fourth in 2018 and third in 2017 as a freshman. The third-place finish in the 200 (25.00) is also the highest finish for Salisbury at the Championships after she placed fifth as a freshman and 12th in 2018. Salisbury rounded out the day with a top ten finish in the triple jump (37-3.75).
Tia Tardy posted a personal-best in the 800, placing second (2:10.21). Tardy's time remains the fifth-fastest in Bucknell history as she used a late push down the final stretch to take silver. Karly Forker (9th, 2:13.49) just narrowly missed out on scoring in the event.
To start the day, the team received important points in the steeplechase, as Payton Capes (4th, 10:42.86), Margaret Thomson (5th, 10:49.94), and Lauren Hazzard (8th, 11:05.94) each posted solid times. Capes bested her previous record of 10:55.42 that she set earlier this season by nearly 13 seconds, and the time now moves into the fourth-fastest in Bucknell history. Hazzard also moved further up the top ten list to the nine spot with her effort.
Harper Stewart improved upon her sixth-best score in the heptathlon by scoring 4540 to finish in third overall and move up one spot to fifth on Bucknell's all-time list.
In the 5000, Ashley Blair was fifth (17:25.73), while Capes was close behind in seventh (17:30.25).
Madeleine Hunt scored in the 1500 (7th, 4:38.56). In the triple jump, Alexis Auman placed sixth (38-3.25).
Delia Sipe posted a strong day in the shot put, placing fifth (45-5). Freshman Abby Whitaker also scored in the event (41-9.75).
The 4x100 squad of Gianna Macones, Becca Rooney, Michaela Bracken, and Salisbury finished fifth (48.07) The 4x400 team of Bracken, Rooney, Stewart, and Tardy also scored with a sixth-place finish (3:51.08).
