Grace Camerlingo Lands Patriot League Rookie & Track Athlete of the Week

LEWISBURG, Pa.- Grace Camerlingo has made an immediate impact as a freshmen bolting into the Bucknell record book and her lightning-fast start continued this past weekend at the Bison Tuneup. The conference office acknowledged her feat by naming her both the Rookie and Track Athlete of the Week. She became the first women's athlete to win both awards on the same day since Navy's Chelsey Edwards on Feb. 5, 2019 and the first Bison to ever replicate the feat.Â
Camerlingo ran an event-winning 7.56 in the 60-meter dash, after posting a 7.72 speed in the preliminaries. The time moved her to third at Bucknell, trailing only Bison legends Meghan Quinn and current jumps coach Kaitlin Salisbury.Â
Her 7.56 mark ranks second in the Patriot League behind Boston's senior Jada Smith's 7.54 and 26th in the Mid-Atlantic region.Â
Camerlingo has been hitting her stride as the indoor season pivots towards the Patriot League Indoor Championships. She ran 7.64 at the Penn Classic, the last meet before the Bison Tuneup.
The two-day Patriot League Indoor Championships start this Saturday.Â
