"Although, nobody is ever happy with fifth as a team, the Patriot League is now one of the better mid-major conferences nationally and we littered our all-time top 10 list with individual and relay performances," said head coach Kevin Donner. "We do recruit and structure our program for outdoor track & field and we have a very competitive schedule this year with some great meets that we are excited about."
Lea was a warhorse. She tied the school record of 54.74 set by Bucknell legend Meghan Quinn yesterday and pushed hard to run 54.35 and win silver. She sat fourth after the first 200 meters but sprinted hard for the medal and top billing in the Bucknell record book. The sophomore now owns four school records.
"Alex has been battling injuries this entire indoor season but you would never know it with the way she has performed," sprints coach Richard Alexander. "To come out and finish second today and break the school record is a testament to her perseverance and determination."
Lea also ran the 200-meter dash and battled to a point-winning fifth place finish by running 24.46.Â
Camerlingo unveiled a smashing league championships debut in the 60-meter dash. The freshman ran a scorching 7.58 and raced nearly neck-to-neck with Boston's star senior Jada Smith's 7.51, to mint a silver medal.
"Grace did a great job to finish second," said Alexander. "That was a great field of women and she proved that she belongs with them. She has put in tremendous amount of work this indoor season and will continue to blossom as an athlete."
Kailey Granger enjoyed a banner day. The junior distance runner earned fourth in the 3000-meter run. Her time of 9:35.24 set a personal record and moved her from sixth to second all-time at Bucknell.
Bucknell enjoyed success in the relays. The quartet of Katie Moncavage, Jenna Wright, Madeline Kerr, and Caryn Rippey combined for fourth place in the distance medley relays, logging 11:37.35. The time sits fifth in Bucknell history.
The 4x400-meter relay team of Lea, Raygan Lust, Piper Portacio, and Alison Cooke ran 3:47.56 for fifth in the event. The time ranks ninth in the Bucknell record book.
Megan Baggetta tied her personal record in the triple jump to finish fifth. The junior jumper found her stride in the latter half of the indoor season and her 39-2.50 mark arrived during her second attempt.
Noelani Sadler slotted fifth in the 60-meter hurdles. The sophomore ran 8.86.
Katrina Torelli did not match her preliminary time in the mile run but the junior's mark of 4:50.99 earned seventh place. She remained remarkably consistent throughout the race, sitting seventh for the entire process.
Raygan Lust also scored points in the 400-meter dash as the freshman sprinter dashed 58.61.
Liliana Wakenshaw narrowly missed registering points in the high jump. The sophomore finished ninth, clearing 5-3.
Madison Fowler placed 11th in the shot put. The sophomore, who medaled bronze yesterday in the weight throw, threw 43-4.50.
Bucknell will rest and refuel before opening the outdoor campaign with a home dual versus Binghamton on March 29.Â
Boston won the women's title, followed by Army and Navy.
