RALEIGH, N.C.- Bucknell sent three throwers, Madison Fowler, Justley Sharp, and Brylee Tereska to the Raleigh Relays, and the Bison chuckers held their own against elite competition in the javelin and shot put on the first day of competition while posting excellent marks for the first meet of the outdoor season.

"I felt it was a fantastic day one and season opener for all three of our student-athletes who competed today. It was Sharp's first competition in a year after her surgery, and making a final at Raleigh is a great start. Fowler almost made a final and she is way ahead of where she was one year ago today and even her indoor season. Tereska was very solid in the javelin to finish 8th and is also better than one year ago today at this same meet and traditionally her mark should qualify her for her four straight NCAA East Preliminary. Overall, a very good day to be a Bison. Our athletes will use this momentum for the discus, high jump and triple jump tomorrow."
Javelineer Brylee Tereska opened her quest to become the program's first fourth-time NCAA qualifier by finishing eighth. Tereska's first throw of 46.82m (153-7) was her best of the day. She hit above 150 feet one more time during the finals. Tereska was only six feet away from her personal best.
Madison Fowler and Justley Sharp competed in the shot put. Sharp returned to action for the first time since last year's outdoor season. She displayed impressive strength in her first outing. She hit 14.51m (47-7.25) in her first attempt. The mark qualified her for the finals. Sharp hit her best throw of 14.55m (47-9) in the second round of the finals.
Fowler nearly hit her personal best in three throws. The sophomore did not qualify for the finals, but her best toss of 14.29m (46-10.75) arrived in her third and final attempt.
Fowler and Sharp will throw tomorrow in the discus.
