Fowler & Lea Named to the Academic All-Patriot League Team

LEWISBURG, Pa.- Madison Fowler and Alexandra Lea shine on the track and in the throwing cage while maintaining reputations as exceptional scholars. The conference voters rewarded the pair of sophomores with their first career spots on the Academic All-Patriot League, as announced Wednesday.

Fowler, an undeclared major, recorded a 3.83 fall GPA and owns a cumulative mark of 3.89. The sophomore thrower earned bronze in the weight throw at the Patriot League Indoor Championships. Fowler threw for a personal record best 18.80m (61-8.25) to win the medal and improve her second best mark in Bucknell history. She also finished 11th in the shot put.

Lea, a neuroscience major, earned a smashing 3.91 fall GPA and holds a sensational cumulative mark of 3.94. The sophomore, despite a lingering injury requiring a MASH-like bandage, shattered the school record in the 400-meter dash en route to a silver medal. Lea ran a sizzling 54.35, passing her mentor Meghan Quinn, for first in Bucknell history. She had tied Quinn for first after running in the preliminaries. The sprinter mustered enough energy to record fifth in the 200-meter dash.

The Bison women open the spring campaign later this March.
