Women's Track & Field Slots Fifth After First Day of the Patriot League Indoor Championships

BOSTON, Mass.- Bucknell women's track & field collected one medal, tied one school record, and earned eight new top ten marks in Bison history on the first day of the Patriot League Indoor Track & Field Championships. Seven Orange & Blue athletes earned qualification in tomorrow's finals. The Bison women scored 20 points and currently sit in fifth place.
"Proud of our crew for their efforts on day one," said throws coach Ryan Protzman. "Isabelle Roes finished off a great career in the weight, having her best throws in the last couple competitions. Maddie hit a PR to solidify her first conference medal. Love the way this group works together and competes together. Excited to finish indoor with a bang tomorrow."
Madison Fowler earned her first Patriot League medal by winning bronze in the weight throw. The sophomore threw a personal best 61-8.25 in her third attempt. The mark improved upon her second best standing in Bison history and scored Bucknell's first six points.
"I'm glad the day went how it did," said Fowler. "After fourth last season, my goal this year was to podium and it is awesome to actually get to see the hard work pay off. I can't wait to see how tomorrow goes and then carry this momentum to the outdoor season."
Alexandra Lea continued her assault on the Bucknell record books by tying Meghan Quinn's school record in the 400-meter dash. The speedy sophomore raced 54.74, equaling the legend's time. The mark placed Lea second in the preliminaries and qualified her for tomorrow's finals. Lea now owns or ties three school records.
Meghan Quinn celebrated her successor, "Congrats to Alex on an indoor PR and go get it tomorrow! LEAgues magic is real!"
Freshman Raygan Lust also qualified for the 400-meter dash finals, placing eighth with a time of 56.59. She now sits eighth in Bucknell history.
Lea also qualified for tomorrow's 200-meter dash finals. She ran 24.31 to win her heat and finish fifth in the preliminaries.
The 4x800-meter relay team of Isabella Johns, Grace Vives, Madeline Kerr, and Katie Moncavage finished fourth with a time of 8:59.24. The time slots seventh in Bucknell history.
Grace Camerlingo qualified for tomorrow's 60-meter dash finals, slotting fourth on a speed of 7.60.
Bucknell picked up five points in the 5000-meter run via Caryn Rippey's fifth place and Kailey Granger's eight place finishes. Rippey led the race through 2800 meter before falling to 12th place. She rallied for fifth on a time of 16:55, slotting fourth in Bucknell history. Granger ran a personal best 17:01.19 – eighth place at Bucknell.
Noelani Sadler qualified for tomorrow's 60-meter hurdles finals, running 8.76 to earn sixth.
Madeline Lehker captured seventh place in the pentathlon with a personal best 3217 points. The senior performed best in the long and high jump, earning fifth place in both events.
Freshman Jordan Muraglia scored a point for the Bison in the long jump. The rookie placed eighth, leaping 18-4.25.
Senior Elizabeth Bryant also tallied a ducat and eighth place for Bucknell. Bryant completed her Patriot League indoor career, clearing 12-1.50 in the pole vault.
Two Orange & Blue runners unlocked top ten marks in the mile run preliminaries while qualifying for tomorrow's finals. Katrina Torelli posted a personal record time of 4:49.87 to finish fourth. Her mark sits third at Bucknell. Senior Grace Vives placed tenth, logging a personal best time of 4:52.73, and moving into eighth in Bison history.
Katie Moncavage did not qualify the finals in the 800-meter run with her 14th place finals but the sophomore's time of 2:12.26 represents a personal record and slots sixth at Bucknell.
The Patriot League Indoor Championships conclude tomorrow. Events resume at 11 a.m.Â
