BLACKSBURG, Va. - Lindsay Pieper scored four goals and Natasha Fuchs had a goal and six assists to lift Virginia Tech to a 16-6 victory over Bucknell in a non-league women's lacrosse game on Saturday afternoon. Katie Edge scored twice for the Bison, who fell to 2-7 on the season, with all seven losses coming on the road.
Virginia Tech (3-5) outscored the Bison 12-0 in the first half before things evened up in the second. Britt Faulkner scored just 30 seconds into the contest and the Hokies led 4-0 after just seven minutes. Virginia Tech outshot Bucknell 31-6 in the half, and the Hokies might have had an even bigger lead if not for eight first-half saves from Lizzy McDaniel.
Lauren Kremer and Andrea Paraud opened the second-half scoring to get the Bison on the board. Virginia Tech scored the next three in a row before Bucknell closed the game on a 4-1 run. Edge scored twice and Emily Burman and Ashley Flood once each in the final nine minutes.
McDaniel finished with nine saves for the Bison, who will finally get an extended taste of home action next week. Bucknell plays three of its next four at Graham Field, beginning Wednesday with Harvard at 6 p.m.
