NEW KENT, Va. - After registering a team victory and a third-place finish in its first two tournaments of the fall season, the Bucknell men's golf team surprisingly struggled at the Joe Agee Invitational, hosted by William & Mary at Royal New Kent Golf Club. The Bison finished last in a 17-team field at the two-day, 54-hole event, which wrapped up on Tuesday.
The Bison finished with rounds of 316, 312 and 325 for a 54-hole total of 953. That was well behind tournament champion Rutgers, which fashioned rounds of 286-291-294 for 871. Host William & Mary was runner-up, six shots back.
Charlie Waddell was Bucknell's top finisher, placing 54th individually with rounds of 75-78-80. No Bison broke 80 in Tuesday's final round.
Tom Lane finished at 240 (79-78-83), while a pair of sophomores - Ryan Hom and Kyle Moran - both shot 241. Ben Pellicani finished at 242 with cards of 82-79-81.
Three players in the field finished under par, led by Towson's Alex Bruueggemann at 2-under 214 (67-72-75). Tim Pemberton of William & Mary and Jeff Castle of Towson were one shot back.
The Bison return to action this Sunday and Monday at the Lehigh Invitational.
