Robbins Leads Bison in Round One at Torrey Pines

RESULTS
LA JOLLA, Calif. -- James Robbins made four birdies on the way to a 1-over-par 73, leading the Bucknell men's golf team on the opening day of the UC San Diego Invitational at Torrey Pines. The Bison opened with a 306 team score and are in 16th place with 36 holes still to play.
Robbins birdied two of the four par-5 holes (5, 17) on the Torrey Pines North Course and added two more at 7 and 11 on the way to a solid 73. The Bison also counted a 75 from Jack Hartman, a 78 from Taylor Kuehn, and an 80 from Patrick Pritsios.
Hayden Quinn, playing as an individual, got off to a nice start with a 74. After starting his round with a double on the tough 18th hole, Quinn bonced back and birdied the first hole and later eagled the par-5 ninth. He was 1-under through 15 holes before finding trouble late in his round.
Loyola Marymount grabbed the first-round lead with a 9-under 279. UC Santa Barbara is one back, while UCSD (284), Cal Baptist (287), and DePaul (287) round out the top five.
LMU's Nateeshvar Anatha Ganesh fired a 6-under 66 and has a three-shot lead after 18 holes. Five players are tied for second after posting 69.
Round two gets going with a shotgun start at 4 p.m. Eastern (1 p.m. local) on Monday.
