MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. - Celine Cherbin offered a strong showing in her first Bucknell appearance, carding a pair of 78s as the Bison placed 33rd in a strong, mostly southern, field of 36 at the Unlimited Potential/Bay Tree Classic. The tournament, which was shortened to 36 holes after Saturday's rainout, concluded Sunday at Bay Tree Golf Plantation.
Bucknell, the only school in the field located north of Washington, D.C., had rounds of 341 and 337 to place ahead of High Point, The Citadel and Old Dominion. Coastal Carolina won the tournament with a 36-hole total of 602, 13 shots better than James Madison.
Cherbin, a native of Fontcouverte, France, finished in a tie for 32nd place, a strong showing for the Bison newcomer. Captain Jaime Hays and freshman Teri Schlang both shot 86-84, while freshman Stephanie Calhoun shot 91-92 and sophomore Rachel Adika had 93-91.
Laura Terebey of Radford shot a four-under-par 140 (73-67) to run away with individual honors. She finished seven shots clear of James Madison's Carol Green, the first-round leader.
Bucknell returns to action on Sept. 26-28 at the Princeton Invitational.
