Bucknell Women's Golf Opens Season with 341 at Bay Tree Classic

LEWISBURG, Pa. - Bucknell's women's golf team opened its 2003-04 campaign Friday at the Unlimited Potential/Bay Tree Classic at Bay Tree Golf Plantation, and the Bison carded a team total of 341 to stand in 31st place after the first of three rounds.
Billed as the largest collegiate women's golf tournament, 36 teams teed off in Friday's opening round. Junior Celine Cherbin, a newcomer to the Bucknell squad, garnered the team's low round of the day with a six-over-par 78.
Jaime Hays and Teri Schlang each shot 86, followed by Stephanie Calhoun with 91 and Rachel Adika with 93.
Coastal Carolina took the 18-hole lead with a first-round 296, 10 shots better than James Madison and Middle Tennessee State. JMU's Carol Green was the only player to break par on Friday with a one-under 71. A pair of Coastal Carolina golfers in Danielle Renner and Natalie Cruse are one shot back.
Round two is scheduled for Saturday, with shotgun starts at 8 a.m. and 1 p.m.
