Women's Golf Set for Patriot League Championships at the U.S. Naval Academy Golf Course

The Bucknell women's golf team is headed to Annapolis this weekend for the 2026 Patriot League Championships at the U.S. Naval Academy Golf Club beginning at 8:30 a.m.

Bucknell's lineup for the weekend includes sophomore Sophia Bardunias, freshman Joelle Johnson, senior Paige Richter, junior Nicole Yun, junior Lila Smith and junior Katherine Vice. Vice will be the first Bison to tee off with a 9:30 a.m. tee time.

Sophia Bardunias is coming off of her fourth Patriot League Golfer of the Week honor this season. Her four weekly awards tie Richmond's Hanna Lydic for the most awards in a single season. Bardunias is one award away from matching Boston University's Hanako Kawasaki with eight career awards.

About the Bison

Bucknell is coming off of an eighth-place finish out of 16 teams at the Rutgers University Invitational where the Bison fired a 953 for the 54-hole tournament.
Bucknell added to its historic season with its fourth team championship of 2025-26 at the NKU Spring Fling. Bucknell had only ever won two tournaments in one season back in 2010-11. The Bison opened the season with back-to-back wins at the Bucknell Invitational and the Battle at the Creek. The Bison also won the Red Flash Invitational to wrap up the fall slate.
The Bison made history with a 36- and a 54-hole at the Bucknell Invitational. Bucknell shot an 885 for the tournament to smash its previous best of 896 set back in 2023. The Bison then shot an 893 at the Battle at the Creek.
Bucknell opened its fall season with back-to-back tournament wins for the first time in program history. The Bison dominated at home in the Bucknell Invitational, defeating the field of 17 teams by 33 strokes. Bucknell then won by two strokes at the Battle at the Creek in a field of 15 teams with an 899. The Bison capped off the fall slate with a win at the Red Flash Invitational.
The Bison have also cleaned up in the Patriot League weekly awards, winning 10 Golfer of the Week awards in nine weekends of competition.
Bardunias' seven career awards are the most in program history. Paige Richter is second with three career awards, and she has two already this season.
Katherine Vice won the honor after winning the Bucknell Invitational early in the season. Joelle Johnson has two awards and Nicole Yun has one award this season.
Vice and Johnson tied for first at the Bucknell Invitational, and Vice won the trophy in a playoff. Johnson came in second place at the Battle at the Creek. In the fall, the Bison had six rounds that are in Bucknell's all-time top-10 for a single round. Individually, the Bison had 17 top-10 finishes in the fall.
Johnson led the team in the fall with a 74.1 average over the five events. She posted four top-10 finishes and shot one round under par. She is averaging a 79.7 in the spring and has one top-10 finish at the NKU Spring Fling.
Richter played in three events in the fall, making the top-10 of the individual field in each event. She was second on the team with a 74.9 average. She is averaging an 80.9 in the spring.
Bardunias had four top-10 finishes in the fall with a 75.2 average. She has three more top-10 finishes in the spring, including her win at the NKU Spring Fling. She is averaging a 76.7 in the spring and 22 of her 25 rounds this season have gone under 80.
Yun averaged a 75.7 with two top-10 finishes. She is averaging an 80.0 in the spring with one top-10 finish.
Vice averaged a 76.4 in all five events in the fall and has an 81.6 average in the spring.
Smith averaged a 78.0 and has an 81.7 average this spring.

Bucknell at the Patriot League Championships

The Patriot League began sponsoring women's golf in 2013 – the Bison played 10 seasons in the Big South Conference until then – and Bucknell won the second championship in 2014 at Saucon Valley Country Club. Lauren Bernard, Bridget Wilcox, and Kasha Scott finished 3-4-5 to lead the charge.
Bucknell hosted the inaugural championship in 2013 and was runner-up to Lehigh by three strokes, despite 2-3-5 finishes from Wilcox, Bernard, and Scott. The Bison hosted again in 2016 and 2024, finishing fourth and fifth, respectively.
After finishing the two previous seasons in fifth, the Bison made some noise with a third-place finish and top-10 finishes for Sophia Bardunias and Paige Richter.
Bardunias finish in sixth-place to earn All-Patriot League honors. Richter was right behind her with a seventh-place finish to earn her third consecutive All-Patriot League honor.
