Tom Gravante joined the Bucknell men's lacrosse staff in September 2023. Gravante, who spent the past 28 years as the head coach at Mount St. Mary's, serves as an assistant coach working primarily with the Bison offense.
"I am honored to have Tom join the Bucknell Lacrosse Family," said Fedorjaka. "He brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the program and is well respected throughout the lacrosse community. What I love most about Coach Gravante is his grit, mental toughness and winning attitude."
Gravante amassed a program-record 178 wins during his nearly three-decade career with the Mountaineers, earning Northeast Conference Coach of the Year honors three times and Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Coach of the Year four times. With 117 conference victories, Gravante's teams won eight regular season and tournament titles, resulting in five postseason appearances.
Gravante's teams enjoyed unprecedented success in the MAAC, advancing to the championship game in six of 11 seasons and winning the title in both 2003 and 2010. The Mount was nearly unbeatable in conference play from 1997 to 2001, going 37-4 against MAAC opponents during that stretch. Then in 2011, Gravante led the Mount to an NEC Championship title in the league's inaugural season.
Gravante's teams received NCAA bids in 2003 and 2010, and in his final season with the program, he led Mount St. Mary's to a 7-2 conference record and a share of the 2023 MAAC regular season title.
In 2002, Gravante was named a recipient of the Howdy Myers Man-of-the-Year Award by the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association. He has twice served as head coach for the USILA North-South Senior All-Star game.
A 1988 graduate of Hobart College, Gravante was a four-year letterman and standout attackman. He helped the Statesmen capture the NCAA Division III National Championship in each of his four seasons and was a two-time First Team All-American, notching 66 goals and 22 assists for 88 points as a senior. For over 10 years, he held Division III tournament records for goals in a game (7) and goals in the tournament (17). Gravante was inducted into Hobart's Athletics Hall of Fame in 2006.
Following his graduation from Hobart, Gravante worked at General Electric in Syracuse in manufacturing test engineering. After his term at GE, he owned and operated a fitness center in his hometown of Camillus, N.Y. When offered the opportunity to pursue his MBA degree and coach lacrosse, he decided to return to the game as assistant coach at Mount St. Mary's for the 1993 season. Upon the resignation of A.J. Russo, he was promoted to head coach. In fall of 1995, he was promoted to full-time status. In May of 1998, he received his Master's of Business Administration degree with honors from Mount St. Mary's.
Gravante is joined in Lewisburg by his wife, Nicole, and two children.
