Head football coach from 1947-57, Harry Lawrence led the 1951 team to an undefeated season (9-0) and his 1950-52 teams compiled a 17-game winning streak. His 1951 squad is the highest-scoring team in school history, averaging 37.7 points and 463.3 total yards per game. Lawrence's squad received plenty of national recognition, including a top-20 national ranking and three All-Americans, including first-teamer George Young.
