About Bucknell
- Bucknell finally opens home play this weekend with two matches against Army and Colgate. Live Stats links for both contests can be found on the Bucknell Volleyball schedule page.Â
- The Bison continued conference last weekend with a pair of defeats to Old Line State schools. Loyola (Md.) swept Bucknell and Navy sunk the Orange & Blue in four sets.Â
- The Bison were selected to finish sixth and nab the final spot in the conference tournament in the preseason poll. Defending champions American was picked to retain its crown.
- Bucknell went 12-14 overall and 9-7 in conference play in 2025. The season ended with a 3-2 defeat in the Patriot League First Round to Navy.Â
- Graduation thinned the Bison ranks. 2024 Patriot League Setter of the Year Caleigh O'Connell headlined the departures. Other notable losses included backup setter Laura Caro, First Team All-Patriot League member Bri Frazilus, Second Team All-Patriot League honoree Tijana Kostic, and prominent middle blocker Riley Tucker, who graduated early and transferred to Tulane.Â
- Plenty of talent remains in Lewisburg with two-time First Team All-Patriot League recipient Sidney Shaffer - the preeminent middle blocker in the conference. Shaffer was Bucknell's sole entry on the 2026 Patriot League Preseason Team. Cameron Lloyd switches back to outside hitter after a magnificent season as a libero, a move that significantly bolsters the position group after Frazilus' and Kostic's departures.Â
- Two transfers, Calli Kenny and Katie O'Sullivan, arrived at Bucknell. Kenny, a setter, previously played at Marquette, while O'Sullivan, a libero, suited up for San Jose State.
- Six freshmen joined the Bison, most notably, Isabella Charlton and Marion Haskell. Haskell has been one of Bucknell's main offensive threats.Â
- John Post enters his first season for the Bison after a highly successful tenure as an assistant coach at Yale. Post previously helmed the men's and women's programs at Nichols College.Â
- Peyton McGee is second in the conference in assists per set (8.17).Â
- O'Sullivan is fourth in the conference in digs per set (4.10).Â
- Lloyd crossed the 1000-dig milestone this season.Â
- Army is 9-4 overall and 3-1 in PL action. The Black Knights recorded four sweeps in non-conference play. The USMA has defeated Colgate, Holy Cross, and Loyola (Md.)Â while falling to American in PL games.Â
- The Black Knights went 19-9 overall and 11-5 in PL play last season. Army made a gallop to the Patriot League Championship Game where its season ended in a sweep to American.Â
- Army was picked to finish third in the conference. Setter Juliette Myrick made the Preseason All-League Team.Â
- Two Black Knights have more than 100 kills.Â
- Alma Kovaci Lee enters her 20th year on post at West Point. She owns a career record of 359-191.
- Army owns the all-time series lead, 49-17. The two teams split their 2025 matches.
- Colgate is 7-6 overall and 2-2 in conference play. The Raiders battled a brutal non-conference slate, which included ranked foes, No. 7 Arizona State and No. 22 Tennessee. In conference action, they beat Catholic schools Loyola (Md.) and Holy Cross but fell to the service academies.Â
- The Raiders went 18-10 overall and 13-3 in conference play last year. Army ended their season in a five-set Patriot League semifinal thriller.Â
- Colgate was projected to finish second in the league. Outsider hitters, Milan Bayless and Tiana Owens, made the Preseason All-League Team.Â
- Owens paces the team with 175 kills. Bayless, a former Patriot League Player of the Year, has not recorded a stat in 2026.Â
- Ryan Baker has coached 21 years at Colgate with a magnificent 347-233 record.Â
- Colgate owns the 50-25 series record. The teams split their 2025 matches.Â
- Bucknell remains in Davis Gym next weekend against American (Oct. 10) and Holy Cross (Oct. 11).Â
