Men’s Tennis Off to Strong Start at Carousel Classic

BINGHAMTON, N.Y. – The Bucknell men's tennis team is off to a good start at Binghamton's season-opening Carousel Classic. The Bison opened the 2026-27 campaign by posting a 4-1 record in doubles and 4-3 in singles against players from Buffalo and Binghamton on Friday at Recreation Park.
Five freshmen made their collegiate debuts for Bucknell, and four of them one at least one match on day one. The Bison were especially strong in doubles, winning four out of five matches. Freshmen Brady Friesen and Enoch Lin both won two doubles contests from Binghamton tandems. The pair teamed up for a 7-5 win over Vonn Dudek and Milan Icbuyun and a 6-3 verdict over Harry Liao and Filipe Costa.
Senior Will Robinson and freshman Justin Yuan cruised to a 6-3 win over Andre Ajed and Dylan Breen of Binghamton, and junior Nelson Alapi and freshman Jovan Morales won by the same margin against Buffalo's Cowen Lau and Michael Malkin.
Bucknell's only doubles loss came in a tiebreaker, as junior Shiv Singh and freshman Vlad Dombrovskyi fell to Connor Doig and Chase Zhao of Buffalo.
Likewise, all three of Bucknell's singles losses came in tight matches. Dombrovskyi and Lin both fell 10-8 in third-set super tiebreakers after splitting the first two sets, and Yuan dropped a 7-5, 7-6 (8-6) verdict to Radu Valentin Filipache of Binghamton.
Robinson, Alapi, Friesen, and Morales all won their singles matches against Binghamton players. Friesen and Morales rolled by 6-1, 6-1 counts, Robinson won 6-1, 6-3, and Alapi won his third-set tiebreaker 10-8.
