What:Â Bucknell with Drexel, George Washington, Lehigh
When:Â Saturday, Apr. 4, 10:30 a.m.
Where:Â Schuylkill River, Philadelphia, Pa.
LEWISBURG, Pa. – The Bucknell rowing teams were forced to improvise this weekend, as elevated water levels on the Susquehanna River necessitated moving the home races with Drexel, George Washington, and Lehigh to Philadelphia on Saturday. The Bison women will hold their senior oar ceremony on Friday evening, and then depart early Saturday to compete on the Schuylkill River in a double-dual format. Bucknell will go head-to-head with Drexel in the morning and George Washington in the afternoon. The first races are set for 10:30 a.m., with boats launching from Temple University's boathouse.
Â
Bucknell is looking to build on last week's successful spring debut in Boston, when the Bison defeated Patriot League rivals MIT and Holy Cross in both eights and the varsity four. MIT finished third behind Boston University and Georgetown at last year's Patriot League Championships, but the Bison got the better of both the Engineers and the Crusaders.
Â
MIT won silver medals in the Varsity Eight and bronze in the 2V8+ last spring, but last week Bucknell's 1V8+ beat the Engineers by nearly nine seconds and the Bison 2V8+ defeated Holy Cross by seven seconds and MIT by 17 seconds. Â
Â
Bucknell will face more good competition on Saturday. George Washington was runner-up to Rhode Island at the 2025 Atlantic 10 Championships, and Drexel was runner-up to Northeastern at last year's CAA Championships. The Dragons' 1V4+ took home gold.
Â
Bucknell returns to action next weekend at the Knecht Cup on the Cooper River in New Jersey. The Bison performed very well in that regatta last year, with all four boats qualifying for Grand Finals and finishing in the top five. Â
