Bucknell at a Glance
- The Bison are down to just three matches remaining in the regular season, all of them against Patriot League rivals. Saturday's dual against Colgate is the final home contest of the campaign, and then Bucknell will finish up on the road against Navy and Lehigh before heading back to Bethlehem for the Patriot League Tournament.
- Bucknell dropped a tough 4-3 result to Army last Saturday before bouncing back a day later to beat Villanova 5-2. The Bison swept Loyola the previous week and are 1-1 in Patriot League play thus far.
- Note that Saturday's match has been moved up to an 11 a.m. start time to accommodate Bucknell's Senior Day ceremonies.
- Prior to Saturday's match, coach Jason Cohen will recognize the record-setting senior class of Oscar Bain Moreno de Vega, Brendan McDonald, Adam Stavrakas, and Amar Tahirovic. This group just became the winningest class in program history. Sunday's win over Villanova was the 60th dual win over the last four years, surpassing the previous mark of 59 set by John Scarborough, who was the lone senior in the Class of 1998.

- Bucknell has won five of the 10 Patriot League Player of the Week awards this spring, with Tahirovic winning three and Stavrakas and Liam Kilmer one each. Tahirovic has claimed the honor a record nine times in his career, while Stavrakas has earned five career citations.
- Tahirovic continues to lead the Bison with a 25-7 singles record and a 20-6 mark in doubles. Tahirovic has broken Nick Bybel's school record for combined career wins, and he is four away from Bybel's record of 112 singles wins.
- Liam Kilmer is 18-7 in singles this season.
- Brendan McDonald has a team-high 21 doubles wins against only six losses. Earlier this spring, McDonald became Bucknell's all-time leader in doubles wins. He is 94-35 in his career. Ryan Sandburg '09 held the previous record with 87 doubles wins.
- Tahirovic and McDonald came one win away from an NCAA doubles bid with a big run at the ITA Conference Masters in San Diego. They won the Patriot League qualifier and then beat pairs from Boise State, UC Santa Barbara and Presbyterian to reach the semifinals. McDonald was honored with the ITA Sportsmanship Award at that event.
- Tahirovic also represented the Patriot League in singles at the ITA Conference Masters, where he beat reigning Big East Player of the Year Alejandro Gandini of DePaul in the first round before falling to Martin Birisiouk of N.C. State in three sets in the round of 16. Earlier in the fall, he played in the ITA All-American Championships in Tulsa, Okla., where he dropped tight matches to opponents from TCU and Baylor, and he won twice in the main draw at the ITA Northeast Regional at Princeton.
- Colgate is 6-9 overall and 2-2 in the Patriot League after splitting a pair of matches in the Lehigh Valley last weekend (4-1 win at Lafayette; 4-0 loss at Lehigh). The Raiders also have a 4-1 PL win at Holy Cross and a 4-3 loss at Boston University. They still have dates at Loyola and Navy on the schedule, meaning that all seven of their conference matches will be on the road this season.
- Sophomore Lochlan Seth plays No. 1 singles and is 3-7 in spring dual matches. Senior Aidan Chung, who has played in the 4-5-6 spots, has a team-best 7-5 singles record.
- Chung and Tim Viding are 6-7 in doubles, including a 5-6 mark at No. 1. Tim Vargas and Parker McGowan are 5-4 at No. 2.
- The only Bucknell-Colgate matchup to date this season came in the Round of 16 at the Patriot League qualifier for the ITA Conference Masters. Tahirovic downed Witt Bulger 6-1, 6-1 in his first match on the way to the title.
- Bucknell is 24-55 all-time against Colgate, but the Bison have won the last five meetings.
- Colgate's last series win was a 4-3 upset in the 2021 Patriot League Tournament quarterfinals at Lehigh.
- Last year, Bucknell prevailed 6-1 at Drumlins Tennis Club in Syracuse in a match that was closer than the final score indicated. The Bison swept the doubles and then got three-set singles wins from Bain, Kilmer, and McDonald along with straight-set wins from Tahirovic and Stavrakas.
- Bucknell heads to Annapolis next Saturday, Apr. 11 to face Navy at 10 a.m. in a rematch of last year's Patriot League Tournament final. The Midshipmen won the 2025 regular-season dual 4-2, but the Bison prevailed 4-1 in the postseason to win their first league title since 1991. It was also Bucknell's first win over Navy in 53 all-time meetings.
