Bucknell at a Glance
- Bucknell baseball is back in full swing and the Bison head back down south for a three-game series at Radford beginning on Friday at 3 p.m. at Sherman Carter Memorial Stadium.
- The Bison are coming off a tough road trip where they were swept by Charleston Southern in a three-game series. Charleston Southern got the best of the Bison in an 11-1 win in game two, but Bucknell kept in closer within three runs in games one and three.
- Bucknell struggled to produce runs but showed some power with four home runs in the series. Three different Bison hit home runs in their first at-bats of the season.
- The Bison hit .167 at the plate in the series while CSU hit .262. Bison pitchers posted a 5.32 ERA in the series. The pitching staff struck out 22 batters but surrendered 26 walks and nine hit-batters.
- Right fielder Michael Chiaravallo was 4-for-10 at the plate to start his season. His first at-bat was a pinch-hit home run in game two that gave the Bison a 3-2 lead in the seventh. He also went for an RBI single in game three.
- Third baseman Zach Selfon was 3-for-12 in his first series in the Orange & Blue. The Northwestern transfer posted a single in each game of the series.
- Left fielder Michael Trommer had a three-hit series, including a home run in his first at-bat of the season.
- Catcher Garrison Bullock homered in his second at-bat of the season. Freshman first baseman Garrett Mathias homered in his first career at-bat in game three.
- Jonathan Adelmann, Everett Garber and Brady Hoar got the starts on the mound against CSU. Adelmann surrendered two unearned runs in four innings, striking out five batters in just his third career start. Garber allowed four runs, two unearned, in three innings.
- Mikey Myro made his return to the mound after dealing with injuries last season. CSU tagged him for four unearned runs, but Myro got through two scoreless innings of work before the runs came.
- Dante Pavone pitched 2.2 innings in relief, and allowed two unearned runs on two hits with two strikeouts. AJ Murray pitched 1.1 scoreless innings, striking out three batters while allowing just one hit. Freshman Tyler Seidman looked good in his debut, fanning two batters in 1.2 scoreless innings.
- Senior Ryan Facinelli was named to the Preseason All-Patriot League Team and was a Second Team All-Patriot League selection in 2025.
- Head coach Scott Heather is in his 14th season at the helm, and he is the third-longest tenured coach in program history. Heather's 241 career wins are second-most in team history, trailing only Hall-of-Famer Gene Depew (591).
- Coach Heather is assisted by Jason Neitz (16th season), Brett Smith '17 (6th season) and Josh Kieffer (5th season).
- Radford is 3-1 to start the 2026 season, taking two of three games from Iona last weekend and winning a single game against Queens on Tuesday.
- The Highlanders took game one from Iona 2-0 on runs in the sixth and seventh innings. Iona took game two, 8-9, after a two-run spurt in the top of the ninth. Radford then won the series with a 6-3 win in the rubber match.
- Radford is hitting .246 as a team through the first four games and their pitching staff has a posted a 2.50 team ERA.
- Devin Parks is 8-for-18 at the plate with six RBIs. Breckin Nace is second on the team with four hits and four RBIs. Hunter Keen, Mason Self and Eli Hudgins all have three hits.
- Andrew Steinhaus allowed just two runs, one unearned, on five hits over six innings of work in his first start on the season. Corey Castello allowed three earned runs on four hits in four innings in another start.
- Daniel Quintana has made one appearance in relief where he went five innings of one-hit ball. Raymond Ladd, Joshua Millville and Eli Baker have each tossed two scoreless innings thus far.
- Radford leads the all-time series with Bucknell 12-3, dating back to 1990. The Highlanders won the first matchup 11-7 back in 1990. The last time the two teams met up, the Bison took two of three games back in 2022. Â
- Bucknell continues its road-stretch to open this season with a single game at Pitt on Wednesday.
- The Bison then host Merrimack for the home-opening series beginning on Friday, February 27 at 2 p.m. at Depew Field at Marren Park. The series continues on Saturday at 12 p.m., followed by the final game on Sunday at 12 p.m.
