Women’s Lacrosse Hosts UMBC Friday; Travels to Penn State Sunday

LEWISBURG, Pa. — Bucknell women's lacrosse is set for a Friday-Sunday weekend of play as it hosts its home-opener on Friday, Feb. 13 at 3 p.m. against UMBC and then travels to take on Penn State in University Park on Sunday at 11 a.m.
Bucknell is 1-0 overall after defeating Youngstown State in their road season-opener 20-6. UMBC opened its season 1-0 on Tuesday afternoon with a dominant 20-2 win over Delaware State at home. Penn State currently sits at 2-0 with its most recent win coming on Wednesday 17-9 over UMass.

- Kate Hearns leads the Bison in ground balls with five.She ranks 11th nationally in ground balls per game with five.
- Jess Leon leads Bucknell in caused turnovers with four. She ranks ninth nationally in caused turnovers per game.
- The Bison currently sit at third nationally in scoring offense (20.00), fourth in points per game (31.00) and fifth in shot percentage (.571).
- Bella Crowley is the Bison's goalie this season. The junior has a .571 save percentage with eight saves and six goals against. She ranks 10th nationally in goals against average with six and 15th nationally in save percentage with .571 percent.
- The Bison opened its 2026 season with a 20-6 victory over Youngstown State where Caleigh Cummiskey scored six goals, the most by a Bison freshman in her collegiate debut.
- Jess Leon was named to the 2026 Preseason All-Patriot League Team after a strong 2025 campaign.
- The 2026 women's lacrosse captains are Katie Browne, Cat Dineen, Megan Krestinski and Caroline Sheridan.
- Bucknell welcomed two new assistant coaches in the offseason; Emily Mitarotonda and Emma Telatovich.
- The Bison also welcomed 12 freshmen this season, the largest class amongst the team.
- Bucknell returned 26 players from the 2025 roster including 2025 All-Patriot League Second Team players Megan Krestinski and Jess Leon.
- Bucknell lost top offensive powerhouses Allie Boyce and Taylor McClain to graduation.
- In 2025, Bucknell went 6-10 overall and 2-7 in Patriot League play with its two conference wins coming against American and Lehigh.
- Last season, Megan Krestinski led the team in scoring with 31 goals on the season and total points with 41. She also led the team in draw controls with 36.
- Krestinski is also the leading returner in assists as she had 10, Taylor McClain led the category with 25, but has since graduated.
- Jess Leon led the team in ground balls with 45, which was ranked 20th in the NCAA and led the Patriot League. She also led the team in caused turnovers per game with 2.27, which was ranked 13th in the NCAA. Leon holds third place in Bucknell history in caused turnovers in a single season with 36 in 2025.
Bucknell's Last Time Out
- Freshman Caleigh Cummiskey tied the third-place record for goals in a single game as she led the Bison in scoring with six on the evening as Bucknell (1-0) opened its season with a 20-6 victory over Youngstown State..
- This is the first season-opening win for Bucknell since 2020 and the first season-opener road win since 2018. The 14-goal scoring differential serves as the largest margin of victory since 2024, when the Bison defeated St. Bonaventure 22-6.
- The six-goal performance by Cummiskey sets the record for the most goals scored by a freshman in her collegiate debut at Bucknell. In addition to Cummiskey, three other freshmen recorded their first collegiate goal in the contest; Alexa Thornton, Madeline Kiely and Lucy Connors. Katie Powers earned her first collegiate point on an assist.
- Megan Krestinski led the team in points with eight on three goals and five assists, Cummiskey finished with seven total points as she added one assist to her six goals and Katie Browne rounded out the top-three with three points on three goals. Alex Macutek and Carolien Sheridan each found the back of the net twice and rounding out scoring was Ava Harris who had one goal. Krestinski's five assists ties her at fourth place in Bucknell's record book for assists in a single game.
- Bucknell's defense stood strong limiting the Penguins to just six goals and 20 total shots in the full 45 minutes. Jess Leon led the defense in caused turnovers with four as Bucknell caused 12 turnovers and Youngstown State only caused six.
- Bella Crowley had a solid night in the net for the Bison as she notched eight saves and six goals against in her first collegiate start.
- While draw controls were even at 14, the Bison won the ground ball battle 21-13 over the Penguins, creating more offensive opportunities.
- Youngstown State turned over the ball 22 times in the game, while Bucknell saw 17 turnovers.
- The Bison went 2-for-4 on free-position shots and while the Penguins had more opportunities, they were unable to capitalize on them going 1-for-6.

- UMBC enters the game 1-0 after opening its season at home with a 20-2 win over Delaware State.

- Three Retrievers lead the team in goals with three apiece; Libby Staples, Emily Knapp and Emma O'Callaghan.

- In ground balls, the Retrievers are led by Tess Curtis and Mysa Stewart-Parsons, who each have four. The two also lead UMBC in caused turnovers with two apiece.
- Olivia Worden leads the team in draw controls with five.
- The Retrievers main goalie is Emine Luznar. Luznar has a .500 save percentage with two goals against and two saves. Her goals against average is two.

- This will be the first meeting between Bucknell and UMBC in program history.
Penn State at a Glance
- Penn State enters the game 2-0 after defeating both Richmond and UMass. The Nittany Lions defeated the Spiders in their season-opener narrowly 10-9 and then defeated UMass in their home opener 17-9.
- Penn State sports an all-around offensive attack with four student-athletes (Delaney Radin, Kelly MacKinney, Erika Ho and Rocquette Allen) sitting atop the team in points with eight each.
- Rocquette Allen leads the team in goals with seven.
- Delaney Radin leads Penn State in assists with six.
- The Nittany Lions are led by goalie Sydney Manning in ground balls with seven.
- Susannah O'Connell leads the team in caused turnovers with four.
- Erika Ho is Penn State's main draw control contributor with 11.
- Sydney Manning holds down the goal for Penn State and has a .500 save percentage with 18 saves and 18 goals against. Her goals against average is nine.
The Bucknell / Penn State Series
- This will be the 20th meeting between Bucknell and Penn State.
- Penn State remains undefeated by the Bison 19-0 overall.
- The first time the two Pennsylvania teams faced off was on May 2, 1985 where Penn State took a 15-3 victory.
- The last time these two teams played was on February 12, 2025 where Penn State won 16-4.
