LEWISBURG, Pa. – Bucknell interim vice president and director of Athletics & Recreation Tim Pavlechko announced today that there will be a change in leadership of the women's rowing program.
Stephen Kish '92 was a member of the men's rowing team during his undergraduate days, and he returned to his alma mater as head women's rowing coach in 1996. During his three-decade tenure, the Bison captured seven Patriot League championships, three ECAC Metro championships, and the first national title in program history in the Lightweight Eight at the 2007 IRA Lightweight National Championships. Kish was named Patriot League Coach of the Year six times (2006, 2007, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012), and in 2019 he received the Matthew J. Ledwith Coaches Award at the Dad Vail Regatta.
"My coaching career at Bucknell has rowed its course, and I will be forever thankful for the amazing experiences and opportunities it has afforded me," said Kish. "Thirty-three years of coaching, 30 of them at Bucknell. I will always cherish the people I was able to connect with and grow with, first as a student and then as a coach, and I hope the best for the Bucknell program as it continues to advance into the future. The needle is moving, and it's a great time to be a Bison."
A national search will commence immediately to identify Bucknell's fourth head women's rowing coach since the program's elevation to varsity status in 1990.
