
Bison Rowing Team Has Strong Day at Saint Joseph’s Invitational

RESULTS
LEONIA, N.J. – The Bucknell rowing team had three eights in action at the Saint Joseph's Invitational on Saturday on Overpeck Creek, and the Bison enjoyed a strong day with first-, second-, and fourth-place finishes.
The Third Varsity Eight led the way, posting the fastest time (7:05.433) in the morning heats before coming back to beat Boston College, Massachusetts, and Connecticut in the final. Bucknell finished just under four seconds in front of the runner-up Eagles. Jewell Jacobs and Caroline Wieland split the coxswain duties in the 3V8+, with Victoria Miller-Tuchon working from the stoke seat.
The Second Varsity Eight was coming off an outstanding fourth-place finish at the Doc Hosea Invitational, and coxswain Katie Lash's crew finished second to Rhode Island and ahead of George Washington and Boston College in this one. The Bison placed third in their morning heat.
The Varsity Eight placed second to Boston College in a solid 6:56.578 in its heat before finishing fourth in the afternoon behind Rhode Island, BC, and Saint Joseph's. Hattie Hopper coxed the V8+, which featured four first-years among the eight rowers.
This is the second of five spring events leading up to the Patriot League Championships on May 16 on the Cooper River. Next up is the Knecht Cup on Apr. 12-13, also at the Cooper River complex.
