Caffrey's Call
"We're ready to go to work this weekend. We knew this season would be a challenge to take on the top three teams in the first three weekends and I'm excited about what the adjustments look like. Each weekend is about being better than we were. We're focused on us and what it takes to win games going forward and I think we're prepared for what the weekend will bring."

The Inside "Herd" on the Bison
- Penn State dealt Bucknell an 8-0 defeat in the annual Route 45 Rivalry.
- The Bison had opportunities but stranded five runners, including a bases-loaded opportunity in the first inning.Â
- Bucknell used four pitchers but could not halt the potent Penn State attack.
- The Nittany Lions ended the game in the fifth inning with a five-run outburst to invoke the mercy rule. Â
- The Black Knights opened the weekend series last Friday with a pair of 4-0 victories, including a no-hitter in the second contest.Â
- The Orange & Blue dropped the single game on Saturday, 8-1, after cutting the deficit to 2-1.Â
- Rookie Reagan Powell leads the team with a .326 batting average.Â
- MaKenzie Hilling's and Popella's 17 RBI lead the team.Â
- Savannah Jones has emerged as the staff ace with a 4-5 record and a team-low 3.78 ERA.Â
- Lehigh-Â The Mountain Hawks have not equaled their 2024 results, sitting at 15-18 overall and 3-3 in conference play. The team was well-traveled in non-conference, participating in tournaments ranging from California to Florida to North Carolina. Lehigh opened conference play with three losses to Army. They rebounded by sweeping arch-rival Lafayette but all three games were surprisingly hard-fought and required rallys and late heroics. Their most recent result was a 7-6 loss to Princeton on Wednesday night.Â
- Lehigh-Â The Mountain Hawks are Bucknell's most-played foe sitting at 155 games. Lehigh owns the 107-48 series lead. The Bison haven't defeated Lehigh in a regular season game since 2021, but upset the Mountain Hawks 1-0 in last year's Patriot League Tournament. Madison Roukey threw the complete game shutout.Â
Bucknell resumes Patriot League play at home with a three-game series against Lafayette (April 12-13).Â
