Caffrey's Call
"This weekend is what college softball is all about - an electric, playoff-type atmosphere with a lot on the line. Facing a strong Colgate team in a crucial Patriot League series brings out the best in us. Our focus as we prepared all week was on being better than we were last week. I really felt this past weekend against Lafayette we played one bad inning and it proved to be the difference maker for us. This weekend we want to stay in control and take it one inning and one pitch at a time."
Senior Day
Six Bison will be honored on Senior Day: Ava Aguilar, Juliette Basso, MaKenzie Hilling, Savannah Jones, Bella Radican, and Madison Roukey. The six seniors returned Bucknell softball to the Patriot League Tournament and won its first tournament contest since 2019 with 2024's 1-0 victory over Lehigh. The Bison community will dearly miss all six players.Â
"We have the privilege of celebrating an incredible group of young women who will leave a lasting legacy on this program," said Caffrey. "I couldn't be more proud of their leadership, resilience, and love for Bucknell softball."

The Inside "Herd" on the Bison
- Bucknell recorded its first conference wins of 2025 by sweeping Lafayette in a Sunday doubleheader. The Leopards took Saturday's game.Â
- The Bison led Lafayette 3-0 in Saturday's contest before the Leopards responded with five runs setting up the eventual 6-4 victory.Â
- The Orange & Blue bounced back winning 2-0 and 8-2 on Sunday.Â
- Madison Roukey hurled her eighth career shutout in the 2-0 victory. The Bison ace did not record a strikeout but she kept Lafayette befuddled all game. Her eight shutouts rank eighth in program history.Â
- Savannah Jones started the second game and pitched well before running into trouble. With the score 5-1 Bucknell and multiple Leopards on the base paths, Roukey received the call. The senior allowed a single to load the bases before obtaining three straight outs to escape the jam.Â
- Roukey threw 13.2 innings last weekend, allowing only two earned runs. She earned her second 2025 Patriot League Pitcher of the Week award becoming the first pitcher since the legendary Raeanne Geffert (2019) to notch multiple weekly honors in a season.Â
- Brooke Popella batted .700 (7 for 10) in the series. She delivered four RBIs and one double, as the sophomore slugger demolished Lafayette's pitching.Â
- Freshman Reagan Powell battled her sister, Lafayette pitcher Marisa Powell and recorded a single and strikeout in the family civil war.Â
- Popella's .320 batting average and 21 RBIs lead the team.Â
- Jones has a team-low 4.05 ERA.Â
- Sarah Caffrey passed Joey Lye for fourth-most wins in school history with the Sunday wins. Caffrey now has 65 victories.Â
- Colgate- The Raiders own a 13-25 overall record and sit 3-6 in league action. Colgate's batting average is .249, but the team boasts the best power attack in the conference, slamming 32 home runs in 38 games. Their schedule featured a diverse blend of opponents but also suffered from poor weather forcing several cancellations. In their most recent outings, they lost two of three to Lehigh but won the final contest in a 9-8 extra innings thriller. Several different players headline their attack. Analisa Raffaelli leads the team with nine home runs. Quinn Livesay holds a .371 average (their only .300 hitter) and packs a power punch with eight home runs. Lily Haluska only hits .269 but has drawn 25 walks for a magnificent .456 on-base percentage. Colgate's pitching staff has a 4.77 ERA with all three main options hovering from 4.52 to 4.79.Â
- Colgate-Â Bucknell developed a slim 66-63-1 edge in the series. The Raiders have won the last four out of six matches. The only tie occurred in 2021's 0-0 contest.Â
Bucknell finishes home play at Becker Field with a doubleheader versus Iona on April 24.Â
