LEWISBURG, Pa.- Despite the dreary and rainy weather that engulfed central Pennsylvania on Saturday, Bucknell men's track & field shook off the liquid to record several notable results, including a new mark in a certain top ten list for the first time since the 1990s.Â
Bucknell welcomed dozens of athletes and clubs to Lewisburg in one of the biggest Bison Outdoor Classics ever. The team held an alumni reception as numerous student-athletes returned to celebrate their time with the Orange & Blue.Â
Donner's Debriefing
"The men had a very solid day one and it looks like the weather conditions will be pretty nice for day two. For the most part, our distance guys were very good. The 10k runners were outstanding as we had two guys under 30 minutes in Grayson Crockett and Henry Didden. Didden ran great and broke a barrier that has stood for 33 years to make our all-time top 10. I also thought our 5000-meter runners were great with Dinant and the freshman, Ethan Pratt-Perez having solid races. Pecaitis breaking into our all-time top 10 in the pole vault and finishing second overall was another highlight."
Results
Henry Didden capped the long day with his second place finish in the 10,000-meter run invite. The junior recorded a sizzling time of 29:34.06, which ranked seventh in Bucknell history. Didden became the first Bison runner to crack the top ten for the 10,000-meter run since Matt Deardorff in 1992. Didden freed himself from the middle of the pack late in the event to obtain silver.Â
Freshman Gabriel Pecaitis hurled himself into the Bucknell pole vault top ten. The rookie's clearance of 15-11.25 won second place in the invite category and ranked seventh in Bucknell history.Â
Wade Shomper grabbed fifth in a competitive shot put field. The junior thrower obtained the placement, chucking 16.88m (55-4.75).Â
Peter Sorensen earned seventh in the 10,000-meter run, logging 30:49.09.Â
Braden Stryker finished tenth in the discus throw, tossing 48m (157-6).Â
Joshua Tipton grabbed 11th in the long jump. The sophomore posted a 21-8 attempt.Â
Trent Dinant took home 16th place in the 5000-meter run invite. The junior recorded a time of 14:27.93.Â
The Bison Outdoor Classic continued tomorrow starting at 10:30 a.m.Â
