
Bucknell Men Holding the Massive Bison Outdoor Classic This Weekend

LEWISBURG, Pa.- The Bucknell Bison men's track & field team hosts one of the biggest and most prestigious competitions in the East this weekend. Over 160+ collegiate programs and clubs will descend upon Lewisburg to participate in the Bison Outdoor Classic. It is a three-day extravaganza and should not be missed by any track & field fanatic.Â

"The Bison Outdoor Classic started as a vision of mine 20 years ago for distance runners to run under the lights and now it has grown into one of the premier Track & Field meets on the East Coast in all events. Over 80 different schools will be represented over a three-day period starting on Saturday and ending with the decathlon and heptathlon on Monday. We usually see lots of NCAA-IC4A-ECAC qualifiers and our all-time top ten lists impacted greatly. We also host a Junior Day for our 2026 prospects and an alumni reception. The town of Lewisburg will be hopping all weekend as well. Most importantly, it is an opportunity for out student-athletes to compete in a very tough environment."

The campus will buzz with the amount of activity and fans. So be sure to arrive early to nab a premium parking spot. The event impacts the Lewisburg area with the number of student-athletes, their families, and fans providing a substantial stimulus to the local economy.Â

The Bison remain at home next weekend for the Bucknell Team Classic on April 19.

Last Year's Bison Outdoor Classic
- The Bison won one event and compiled numerous top ten finishes at the 2024 edition.Â
- Bernard Kemp recorded the solo win by conquering the long jump. Kemp won the event on a jump of 24-1 ½.
- Jeffrey Cianfrocca placed fifth in the high jump with a leap of 6-6.
- Jack Higgins had a history-making result in the 5000-meter run. The freshman's time of 14:20.15 finished fifth in the event and ranked tenth in Bucknell history. His mark displaced Mike Deckert's 41-year-old spot.
- Wade Shomper grabbed sixth in the shot put with a 54-9 ½ mark.Â
- The 4x100-meter relay quartet of Amani Brown, Preston Lubeski, Brian Scotto, and Brandon Foust combined to finish seventh. Their time of 42.01 narrowly edged the eighth-place finish of 42.03.
- Aiden Tacker placed 10th in the hammer throw. The sophomore tossed the instrument 177-4 feet.
- Bucknell repeated as Colonial Relays champions, scoring 139.5 points and easily winning the competition. The Bison won gold in two events.Â
- Wade Shomper continued to polish his crown as Bucknell's paramount shot putter with another event win. The junior behemoth threw 16.76m (54-11.75), narrowly edging teammate Braden Stryker's 16.46m (54-0) for the victory.Â
- The Bison won the 6000-meter relay. The foursome of Ethan Pratt-Perez, Harry Marson, Ben Santos, and Henry Didden edged William & Mary's team by 0.31 seconds. Â
- CJ Simbiri made history in the triple jump with his fifth-place finish. The freshman's mark of 47-2.50 tied Bob Gift's 1986 result for tenth in Bucknell history. Simbiri's accomplishment marks the first time since 2019 a new entry cracked the list.Â
- The 4x100-meter relay quartet of Cooper Hyken, Luke Petryna, Brandon Foust, and Garrett Backus placed second with a time of 41.29. The speed ranked sixth in Bucknell history.Â
- One week after breaking into the Bucknell top ten list for the 110-meter hurdles, freshman Ethan Knight performed the trick for the 400-meter variety. The rookie speedster notched a seventh-place time of 53.63. His mark sits eighth all-time in Bucknell history, as Knight became the first runner since 2021 (Brendan Bodisch) to enter the list.Â
The Bison remain at home next weekend for the Bucknell Team Classic on April 19.
