Softball Completes Spring Break Expedition Against Lipscomb and Tennessee State

NASHVILLE, Tenn.- Bucknell softball (7-11) completes its spring break trip with a single game versus Lipscomb (March 11) and a doubleheader versus Tennessee State (March 12). The Bison went 2-3 at the Cathi Maynard Invitational with wins over Appalachian State and UMass-Lowell. None of the three games will be streamed.

The Inside "Herd" on the Bison

Bucknell defeated App State 5-3 and blanked UMass-Lowell 3-0 at the Cathi Maynard Invitational. The Bison dropped three games losing 10-0 (5) to UMass-Lowell, 11-2 (5) to App State, and 9-0 (5) to host Austin Peay.
Savannah Jones starred in the circle throwing two complete game victories against App State and UMass Lowell. Her performance against UML was particularly inspired tossing a three-hit shutout. On the weekend, Jones threw ten strikeouts in 14 innings.
Jones has won four games in 2025 topping her 2024 total of three.
Ava Aguilar was the team's best hitter going 5 for 15 with a double.

Overview of the Opposition

Lipscomb- The Bisons are 11-11 overall and 5-3 at Draper Diamond. They defeated Robert Morris twice and lost 23-0 to #14 Arkansas. Lipscomb only won 16 games last year and are much improved from their 2024 edition. Four players have double-digit RBI totals. Laine Barefoot leads their staff with a 4.20 ERA and a 7-4 record.
Tennessee State- TSU sits 10-7 overall and a 2-1 record in Ohio Valley Conference play. They have played one Power Four team in Illinois losing 9-2. The Tigers are 2-0 in extra innings defeating North Dakota and Wofford by identical 6-5 scores. Onnika Spencer is a special talent hitting a team-leading .392 and she has five of TSU's six home runs. Reina Castillo has started 11 of TSU's 17 games and has a 3.93 ERA.

Lipscomb- The Bison and the Bisons have never met before.
Tennessee State- This is the first meeting between the schools.
