Men’s Tennis Rolls Past Villanova, 6-1

BRYN MAWR, Pa. – The Bucknell men's tennis team cruised to a 6-1 victory over Villanova on Saturday night at Bryn Mawr Racquet Club. Amar Tahirovic, Brendan McDonald, and Liam Kilmer all won twice for the Bison, who improved to 6-2 on the season.
Tahirovic and McDonald teamed up for a 6-2 win over William Monahan an Justin Frattarelli at No. 1 doubles, and Kilmer and Nelson Alapi won 6-1 against Thomas Wakefield and Kush Anand at No. 3.
After claiming the doubles point, the Bison wasted no time locking up the team result. At No. 1 singles, Adam Stavrakas rolled to a 6-0, 6-1 win over Cooper Cordon. Tahirovic won 6-4, 6-1 against Monahan at No. 2, and McDonald clinched it with a 6-4, 6-4 win against Anand on Court 5.
Kilmer and Oscar Bain Moreno de Vega won third-set supertiebreakers at 3 and 4 singles. Villanova's lone win came at No. 6, where Frattarelli won a single 8-game pro set by an 8-6 count against Nelson Alapi.
Bucknell returns home to play another Philadelphia foe on Sunday. The Bison and Saint Joseph's will meet at the Central PA Tennis Center at 1 p.m.
