The first quarter was all Virginia as the Cavaliers opened the game with a 13-point scoring run in the first five minutes. The Bison saw many opportunities and put up a lot of good shots throughout the run, but none fell in their direction. After the media timeout halfway through the quarter, Kunzwiler broke UVA's scoring streak with a driving layup to put the Bison on the board. Paris Clark opened the third quarter with a layup for the Cavaliers and Zemitis immediately responded with one of her own. After that, Virginia dominated as they went on an 11-point run before Zemitis broke the streak with a three-pointer, the Bisons only made three of the day. The teams traded baskets and stops for the next couple of minutes, which included points from Kreuzer and Weisman for the Bison.
